I've had 3 hoods (only paid for one) from fiber images, either the fitment was bad or there was a flaw in it.

i've seen too many hoods come out of fiber images that didn't fit right, and they wouldn't send a new hood. I'd look into NW bodykits, they are a little bit more but your gonna get a much much much better hood, I've seen them and they blow fiber images away.

if youre in the local so cal area, hit up autolink...they have hoods for 300, not the best quality in the world, but the weave is very nice, no flaws...fitment is pretty good actually...not the lightest hood on the market, but a good one nontheless...personally id feel better spending 300, as opposed to 500, for something thats very prone to breakage, fading, chipping etc. i dont care how much you spend on a hood, if its not oem steel, its gonna break eventually...

I'm that friend I am letting it go for $475 and it does already have a clear coat on it.

I woudl say if you want a good hood cheap from a shop in S cal go to JDM honda Parts and buy the JDM honda parts brand. Saw 2 of them when I was at the expo and for the sub $500 hood range they were very nice.

FYI Fiber Images hoods went up to $500 when the new mold was released earlier this year so if you want one of those used is your best bet (DId I mention my hood is a FI hood?)

If carbon fiber hoods were prone to breaking, do you think they would be as popular in professional racing as they are? I've seen cars that have a completely destroyed front end, and yet the only thing still in tact is the Hood. Quality carbon fiber shouldn't break, chip or fade. Only the crap that's maybe 1/2 carbon fiber has the problems you mention

Actually they can fade if they are not protected due to sun exposure (UVA/UVB) . T Here are 2 ways to do this. ONe is to wax and the other is to clear coat (Paint). I put clear coat on mine which protects it and makes it shine much better than a gel coat

thats why i metioned the quality factor, man...theres no need to challenge my statements...i made it clear i was talking about the lesser quality ones...and the carbon that is used in indy and cart is absolutely nothing like the stuff we ever see...even if you buy your 500 fiber images hood, nothing in comparison to aircraft or indy spec stuff...and yes...ALL HOODS WILL EVENTUALLY FADE! unless protected properly...theres no uv protectant in polyester or epoxy resins...

I misinterpreted the comparison of the high quality vs the fabric we see in our hoods statement. I agree with what you said. don't be

I didn't read anything about you talking about quality. You just said you would rather pay 300 for a CF hood instead of 500 because they are prone to breaking etc.. BTW the carbon fiber used in racing is just pure carbon fiber, nothing special about it. It's much more expensive then a lot of the crap out on the market now because it's PURE carbon fiber..no fiberglass or any other non-needed materials. If you have the money (think 3k) yes you too can have an "indy and cart" quality carbon fiber hood. I'm not trying to make you mad so don't look at this the wrong way....just bored off my *** and this helps pass the time

be careful, my FI hood is too short, by about 1/4", i really dont care too much, except when people ask me about it. I heard that FI had two molds, and i got an old one, cause the new mold fit better and was longer. anyone hear about that???

anyways

see if you can fit it first before you buy,

later
