I've found some ITR rims for $525, so now I need a safe way to buy them. The guy said that he only takes check or money order, so I said fine I'll send a check out today and you send out the rims today. In his reply he said that he wouldn't send the rims until he got my check and it cleared. So after he has my money, I have to hope and pray that he wasn't trying to rob me the entire time, and believe that he will actually send the rims. Is there a safe way to do this?

 

Nevermind...the seller seemed straight, so I sent the check out 15 minutes ago. Hope this guy's honest.

 

If the seller is from this board and has high number of posts, then you can easily get references.

Did you get the tires with the rims? If so, that's a great deal.

 

See if he will agree to ship COD. If he is worried about receiving a bad check. He can specify a verified payment option with FedEx or UPS. This lets him specify the payment method (for example, Cash or moneyorder only) There are extra shipping fees for COD

If not, you can go through an escrow service too - like Tradenable (formerly called I-Escrow). Escrow fees will probably be considerably higher than COD, but at least you can inspect the goods and have the option to return them before he gets the money for them.
