Is the Spoon ITR worth it?
I was wondering if the spoon built B18 from Inline 4 is worth the 6gs... will it really make that much of a difference over just the standard B18C5 Inline four is the only shop i know that sells them. How much power difference will it be any insite to this topic would be great

a b18c5 usdm pushes 195 from the factory at the crank. the jdm itr b18c5 pushes about 220 at the crank. the spoon b18c5 pushes about 240 at the crank. if you look at the cost of a usdm or jdm motor and then compare all the polishing and balancing work that spoon does totheir engines. you'll see that the spoon engine as a package is much cheaper. everything on the inside and outside is spoon as well so you get the cams the valves the rocker arms the gears the pistons the head gasket, the crankshaft the bearings the rods, the springs for the cams, the retainers. i am not sure if the ecu and wiring harness are included but if they are, then it is one hell of a deal. i can beat the inlinefour price to if you are intereseted. pm me only if you are ready to drop some money becaue i am tired of everyone asking me to hook them up with agood price and then not foloowing through to finish the sale.
whats ur price so i can let you know, Im in the process of saving enough I should have enough In a couple of weeks. and also is the price for just the spoon core or the whole swap?
The JDM ITR's B18C does not put out 220hp. You're thinking of the DC5 (RSX) Type R engine (K20). The JDM ITR puts out 200hp vs the USDM ITR's 195.
Also, the JDM ITR's engine isn't called the B18C5, it's just the B18C spec-R.
The JDM ITR engine is extremely over-rated...it puts out a whole 5hp over the USDM engine. Wow. 5 freakin horsepower.
Please do some research before you post.

HAHAHAHAHA au-GSR...the JDM B18C-R (there is no such thing as a JDM B18C5 Japanese engines are only stamped B18C). The engine puts out 200 bhp and not 220. The Spoon does not put out 240 bhp!!! This engine is merely a disassembled B18C-R rebult and balanced with tighter clearances for prolonged high RPM activity. The tighter clearances reduce engine vibration at high engine speeds for endurance racing. The Spoon engine does not put out substantial numbers over a stock JDM B18C-R. $6,000 plus is a little high of a price to pay for this. The regular B18C-R can be modifed and make much more power than its Spoon counterpart.

The Spoon longblocks are nothing more than extremely well balanced stock engines. The only modification is a Spoon headgasket that increases compression slightly. Unless you plan on serious road racing using a bone stock engine, then I wouldn't consider it. Instead, buy my engine.
