To remove side bumper strips on an EK hatch do i need to take off the front fenders?

are you talking about the sideskirts? if so yes, well you dont have to completely take them off. there is a bolt in the front of the sideskirt that is under the bottom of the fender.

 

I believe he's talking about the modings. Yeah, you do, and you have to pull out the interior pieces to get to the other pieces. Not off, but enough so you can get to them. Watch out for breaking the tabs.

For the rear, the back plastic comes all the way out so u can reach in. For the sides, door panels come out. For the front, I don't know if the fender needs to be totally removed, possibly only bottom 10mm's, the 10mm inside the door middle, and the inner fender plastic if u have it on. You may be able to reach up and pinch the ONE clip.

If time is a concern, if you have to remove the fender, it's only the top hood bolts, the entire inner plastic and bolts up by the headlights, and it'll be another 20min on top of it all.
