i have a dilemma.. stripped lugnut
i need to change my tires because they're bald. so, i was at the local tire shop and they told me one of my lugnuts in the back is stripped. it spins freely both ways, but it's not going anywhere. they used a torque gun, but it just wouldn't budge! i have 99-00 si rims, and they told me there is no way they can take it out without ruining my rim. is this true? i have to make a decision soon. where am i going to find 1 si rim?! what should i do..
my friend had the same problem and he took this little circular saw (not sure what the name is, but it was like an inch in diameter) and cut the lug nut off, but he very careful.
you can get if off without ruining the rim if you have skill....i'm not gonna tell yo uhow....that is why you pay me the big bucks to get it off without killing your wheel#@@@@!!!!1
dood same **** happend to me on my del sol.. they were like, we gotta cut it off... blah blah... risks risks..
i got out there with some pliars and some screw drivers and got the ****** off myself.
come back when you've exhausted every possible way you can think of..

Take it to another shop......see what they can do, when I worked at my first shop we were strictly tires/truck tires.
this happened alot and we had different methods. One that sticks out in my had the most was a 300zx with Stylin concept wheels, or somthing **** I cant remember the lug nut wholes had a reall deep inset and 3 of them were cross threaded on one wheel alone.
Cross threaded is a diff. story you can just crank on the lug till it breaks the stud. In your case man **** I really dont know.....lol good luck

I think EGcoupe pretty much has the idea. If I am not mistaken, that tool is called a dremmel. The other tool that you will need is called "a steady hand". Good luck.
just to add, use the 'heavy duty' flat discs for cutting metal, about $15 for a pack of like 30? I expect you'll go thru like 5 of them if you don't cut into the stud too far. Definitely going to have to replace the stud, as you will be contacting the threads. good luck, post up how it turns out and what u ended up doing..
get a hacksaw blade between the back of the wheel and the hub and start cutting. it takes a while but it doesn't damage the wheel. thats what we do at my shop...

worrd man same shyt happened to me a while back when i didn't know anything and this ****** destroyed my rim DON"T DO IT, There are ways around EVERYTHING.....Don't let them ******s trap u.
i work at a tire shop take punch and make a dent in the end of the lug nut, then hold the lug nut with some pliers and take a 1/2 drill bit and drill down the center of the lug while holding the lug nut with the pliers then step up to a little bigger drill bit until it comes off...
i just had 2 studs replaced on my civic to get my new si wheels on. it costs me about $56.xx parts and labor and the shop didn't ruin the original wheels...
it may be different in your case, but i would put everything back together and go to another shop
