Default Dropped a valve in my R powered CX...pics inside

Well on christmas day I dropped a valve and this is what it did....I need to know if anyone thinks the head can be fixed or if I should just get another or a new one.

Pretty scary looking?

Well here is the bottom end, which I got lucky on and the valve didnt hit the cylinder wall at all.
IB spec Wisecos are on the way....

As far as the head internals go, Toda C's, Toda valve springs, Toda cam gears, Skunk2 retainers, Ferrea valves are all on the way, I just need to know about the damage to this cylinder head.

On a side note Everything that is coming off the head is for sale for REALLY cheap.
PM me offers.

I was just wondering what caused this, did you downshift into 2nd instead of 4th?

I dont think it looks too bad, I have seen them much worse. Good luck with fixing it.

Looks like it may be salvageable but take it to a machinist who does heads for sure. You might be able to find Max CFM ...believe his name is Brad from RLZ Engineering. He frequents this and other boards and is very helpful. The seat will have to be machined to remove the damage which will result in a valve installed height more pos. than the rest....which can be fixed with shims.

Looks like the cylinder wall right where the valve dropped may have been damaged which could cause a whole host of problems...you may want to look into that.

<------also curious how this happened?

Nothin out of the ordinary was going on when this happened I was just cruising down the highway with bunch of my friends and start messing with my friends new SRT 4, I got up next to him and was punching it a little off and on just playing around and stomped on it shifted into 4th and I thought I blew my muffler off or my distributor rotor off again which has happened before. I didnt mis-shift or anything which is what is crazy we opened up the head to find a retainer split in half. and the valve was jammed sideways into the valve seat. The stem was in cylinder #1 which means it must have went back up through the intake manifold and ended up there.

As far as the block goes I see what you are talking about in the pics but there is no damage to it when looking at it in person that might just be from people rubbing on it or something......who knows. I got really luck that the valve actually got stuck in a sense....

I had a similar problem with a GSR head, took it to an experienced machine shop, and they said it was salvagable. Ended up selling the head, and it was repaired, that motor is still running to this day. Just have it checked out to know for sure, and at the same time have the block looked at, where that valve took a swing at it.

redline goodness.
the head looks salvageable, i've seen worse.
i'd definitely go with over sized pistons.
to clean up any cylinder wall damage.

You're like the 3rd JDM ITR engine I've seen to go like that.
