ok..hopefully someone on here can help. i bought this viper 800esp a few years ago from the shop i worked at. now the shop is closed and i dont know what to do.
ok, the brain wont recieve transmitter signals. i cant program transmitters to it either. if i unplug it for a bit, then plug it back in it will work for a short time. then it stops recieiving again.
what should i do? i tried to talk to circuit city but they were ***'s. they would only check it out if the alarm was wired in the car and wanted to charge me for it cause i didnt buy it from them. now viper gives a lifetime warranty on there brains. what should i do? unless some viper shop would send out the unit for me? i dont know. thanks alot.

two choices, one find a viper shop that is willing to send it out for you, which isn't that big a deal depending on the shop, one shop I worked at sent a lot of stuff back, and if you had a receipt they wouldn't mind.... they sold a ton of viper gear, one of the top 100 viper dealers, another shop I worked at made maybe two returns per year, 'cuz with better installations there were less problems with the units.
the other option is to call viper customer service and explain to them what is happening, and get an return authorization from them (they'll also tell you where to ship it to) From past experience Viper's customer service is excellent and they will treat you better as a customer sending it back, then a shop will sending it back, infact I've had customer's that have had Viper send them free parts when moving an alarm from car to car

well...viper customer service realy isnt. i tried talking to them, explained the situation and they told me i HAD to go through a shop. so i went to one of the only viper dealers around and had to pay 37$ to have the motherfudging brain set out for warranty! damn. we never charged anyone to send stuff out to repair. these pirates. damn. this realy friggin ****'s me off.
and no matter how good of an install you have, if something is gonna break- its gonna break. i almost am willing to say its cause of the friggin cold it buggered up. damn i hate this crap!

I'm not trying to say your's way installation related, but from my expereinces with both a high-volume shop and a smaller more high-end shop (we had more steelers, pirates, penguins, and big dollar customers - and more exotic cars)
the second shop had more focus on it being perfect the first time, the firstw shop was so constantly busy that we were pumping out r/s and alarms, averaging 20+ r/s with three installer per day in winters. and at the 2nd shop we had plenty of units going back, and at the other we literally only sent 2 back in the previous year

Opinion's are like a'holes. Everyone's got one and some of them stink. Not to Debo a thread, but what makes viper "Crap" in your opinion? I mean, examples would be nice, I've installed vipers for almost 9 years now, and i've never seen any problem with them....elaborate please.

I had one on my wife's old Jeep for 4 years, and then put it in my sister's accord two years ago, and have still never had a problem
the viper in my winter ride came out of a customer's car, she was upgrading to the 2-way, and it's almost 10 years old, and I haven't had any issues with it

update, the shop just got my alarm back today. supposidly they couldnt repair it and upgraded me. now i gotta pay 35$ for the upgrade! wtf is the point of a warranty if i gotta pay more money?!?!? from now on i'm using audiovox. never had this much trouble with there stuff.
It Sucks that they make you pay an upgrade fee, when it's not your fault that the unit went bad, or that they no longer carry anymore of those units, on the other side by upgrading you now have the newer viper technology which has better range, and more add-on options, If I'm not mistaken you can now buy the conversion kit and turn it into a 2-way alarm....
Audiovox doesn't do much better with it's warranty stuff, and from the stand point of selling both audiovox, and viper equipment--- viper rocks, and audiovox blows, I've had many more customer complaints about audiovox's customer service and many more problems with their equipment.....
just my 2 pennys.....

realy? i installed both and i liked the audiovox return policy. sent the unit back and a new one was sent. but oh well. i do get the new transmitters. all i want is my damn keyless entry and trunk pop. lol. plus remote start if i drive the car to work.
now the 1 thing i dont like about audiovox, when my wifes crv is remote started the damn shock sensor is still active. dei shuts off the input for the shock sensor when remote started. it might just be the crv, but i turned it down. works fine now.

The shock is one of the things I had an issue with, a lot of cars have a problem with it.... I like the upgrade ability gives you the latest technology, I 've had the same thing happen with audiovox too though, just depend on how old stuff is, I don't have any real problems with Audiovox remote starters, but I've just seen more problems with their alarms than I have with Viper alarms, and I've had a lot of problems with viper's remote starter during last two winters (present winter not included) and put primarily audiovoxs in last winter, but now the new vipers are working better again...... they are both make decent product in the end........
ok ive had a viper 800esp for 5 years the only thing i had to do was change the batt in the remote we do at least 15 -20 vipers a week NEVER have a problem actually i take that back we did have a slight problem when 550esp were installed and the car they were in battery would die we whould have to program the remotes again but that wasnt a big deal now alpine alarms good ideas bad execution now they were junk if your upset about 35 bucks for a new brain you would be even more upset when you found out that the older alpine alarms only had a one year warranty we get those back all the time those and pre dei cliffords just junk
*DO NOT GO WITH AUDIOVOX* Those things are ****. The updated wiring harness doesn't even match the wire colors listed in the diagram in the manual. I sell/install these things... well use to... but since 2 of the Alarm/Remote starts deals haven't worked correctly for us I will not recommend them anymore. I have yet to have an issue with a DEI product

i'm complaining about a 35$ upgrade charge because i bought the viper BECAUSE it had a lifetime warranty. i could of gotten the sidewinder or phython versions, but i bought the viper for more money because of the lifetime warranty. then they CHARGE me because they have to upgrade the brain. not cool at all.
and last time i installed a audiovox unit was like 2 maybe 3 years ago. when i was pro, the shop i worked at delt with audiovox and they were great. if a car came in with a bad unit we would use a brain instock, reprogram the remotes and send the customer on his/her way. send the defunk'd brain to audivox and get a whole new alarm. even when i was a viper/dei dealer, we'de pull a bad brain, send it away and about 2 weeks later recieve the repaired brain. the directed rep even dropped off 3 300esp and a 550esp to use as temps for people.
they must be under new management now. i dont know. we had a dei rep, now i dont hear much about him. he would pop buy every couple of months with new stuff or some chacha. oh well.
