You'll lose power by removing the top of the airbox. But yes, it will sound pretty cool.

I'll admit - every now and again I take off the airbox cover and have some fun... it really does make people look when you hit VTEC...

Sometimes at AUTOXs I pull the cover off... WTF - I go to autoxs for fun and to strengthen my own driving skills anyways.

LOL - its really a super RICE thing to do.. but none-the-less fun.

I've tried several after-market exhausts on mine and have gone back to stock each time. The stock exhaust sounds boss and performs great.

Have you looked or listened to Spügen?

I had a top fuel stainless exhaust with Ti cans for a while. Sounded mean as hell and looked awesome! Unfortunately, it was also loud as hell and I didn't like the noise level. I did notice a distinct difference in oomph when I switched back to stock. Not a big loss, but a noticeable one.

I popped the lid off my airbox last night just to hear what it sounds like. I bought my car used and when i looked at the filter in the airbox, it was a cone style. Is this the correct oem filter? Also, the sound wasn't amazing or anything. My friend's b16a2 with an aem cai sounds much deeper and has a more pronounced vtec x-over. Does that have something to do with the piping and filter used? Anyhow, the s2000 has a pretty loud engine to start off with. Louder than any other vtec motor i've driven. I think i'll stick to stock airbox for now.

i would not take the airbox cover off...i actually tired this.. but i think its hurts the performance...throttle response is a lil different...but if u want a lil performance gain plus a nice sound...check the fujitsubo legalis R exhaust...sounds nice..deeper than stock..also the best sounding intake is the PRM IMO...they re did the air filter which help a lil more with the ponies too..

I personally don't have one but the dual oval is very nice, was on a cruise and a guy had one, it's very deep and smooth. It's loud but not overbearing, it's comparible in sound to the Comptech. The Spügen build quality is very nice and it fits well, I've considered getting one but can't justify spending money on an exhaust since the OEM one is very well designed.
