Default 1992 Accord Failed Emission

The following failed the Georgia Emissions:

HC-ppm Reading (0148) Allowable (132) - 50/15 TEST
CO-% Reading (0.10) Allowable (0.73) - 50/15 TEST

Any suggestions of fixes for these?

i would recomend you check the timing and as an easy start check the computer with a scan tool for a lazy or malfunctioning o2s and overly rich mixture will cause high hydro carbons something simple disconnect a small vacuum line

If you haven't done much along the lines of maintenance... a simple tune-up should get you passed.

Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, Air Filter and Fuel Filter. An intake/injection service would be a good idea also. Try the BG Fuel Injection Service. Simply amazing.

My car had failed horribly in those areas. And I did was add Guaranteed to Pass stuff in the tank and run it. And I passed. Good stuff. Hope that helps.

If it's failing emissions.. that means it's not running as well as it should be. Just spend the money and keep it maintained.. and you won't have to worry about "band-aids" like that **** he was talking about.

some people dont have the money to fix it right away. And some people have to get the emissions out of the way to get their car out on the road again. Doesnt hurt putting GTP in it, to just pass emissions. Regardless if its a "band aid" cure. The "****" works.

And later you could do the basic tune up. Because thats what ANY car needs.

a tune up isnt gonna fix the problem unless the motor has a misfire

Don't make posts like this that aren't factual.

A tune-up consists of : plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter and fuel injection service. If he has no "check engine light" then there isn't a malfunction in any of his working parts. The only other thing that would cause problems with emmisions would be a clogged EGR valve and port. Even that would throw a code. 9x out of 10 a simple tune-up will solve his problem.

100% Yup. And don't forget to change the oil. 1000+ on oil can radically change your emissions.

Green is good. If anything, you'll have more power and better gas mileage.

oil + filter. $2.5 + 4 = $6.50
plugs. $6.50 (4)
STP injector cleaner. $2.50
new air filter. $15

total = ~$30
