Default ITR tranny fluid...

I already searched and couldn't find anything on this matter. I know that non-lsd trannies can use 10w-40 motor oil, how about for us R owners, can we use this oil? What fluid do you guys suggest for our trannies, lsd for us and non-lsd for others?

Just in passing, some members have found that Redline hasn't been better than Honda MTF.

BS.

Use Honda MTF.

Also if you truly did a search and could not find anything you should read this thread.

Don't use Redline in Honda trannies.

Honda MTF is the best in my experience.

well, since i drive hard and do auto-x, which tranny fluid would be best? the reason why i'm asking is i switched from regular tranny fluid to castrol synthetic blend(10w-40), and after 2 months of type r driving and 2 auto-x's i come to find out that i shattered my clutch(CM2). On the other hand, the clutch has been on the car for about 2 yrs. even for 2 yrs, it's still grabbed as it always did. all that happened is that it shattered, can it be from changing over to the motor oil? also how well are clutchnet clutches, and how do they compare to clutchmasters? cuz my CM2 kicked ***.

Really? Your computer skills must suck.

Honda MTF here - except in the ATS tranny where I run ATS fluid.

well reid, before jumping to the harsh conclusion of calling BS on the guy, perhaps he really is a mental midget who cant type in "fluid" under ITR archived and get 147 different threads.

Umm, this was just covered.

Honda MTF.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Hyper16-Johnny &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">reason why i'm asking is i switched from regular tranny fluid to castrol synthetic blend(10w-40), and after 2 months of type r driving and 2 auto-x's i come to find out that i shattered my clutch(CM2).</TD></TR></TABLE>

Tranny fluid has nothing to do with the clutch.

Do you have picture of this shattered clutch? I've never seen a clutch disc shatter.

What prompted you to put motor oil in your tranny?

Try searching for fluid in the ITR forum archives. 147 posts, a large percentage of which are about transmission fluid.

When searching remember to keep the search criteria simple.

Searching for any of these would have found the answers for you:
tranny fluid
Honda MTF
transmission fluid

I don't want to answer?

I've said three times already which transmission fluid to use.

There were no threads in the ITR forum's archived threads about non-LSD trannies.

Well, Reid's pretty good about only screwing with people who've done something wrong, so maybe you should reflect on what/how you've posted and your use of the search function.. not trying to be a dick, just trying to help make your stay here more pleasant and lengthy..

note: telling people you don't know to suck *** is not the best idea. one of those people is a mod, fyi..

mod or not, it's not right to burn someone after they found out that they've shattered their clutch...can't drive their beloved R that they've worked 3 hard years to get...and now can't boost on because the money going their b20vtec for boost may have to be used to rebuild their tranny(itr tranny rebuild=a kick in the *****). no flaming for me using an itr tranny on boost....i do "auto-x"!!! and i didnt mean to offend anyone, if i did, i'm sorry. i haven't had the best of luck on the forums...

What? I never "burned" you. Read my first reply. I just found it incredibly hard that someone could not find any answers via the search. But in the off chance that you truly did search, I provided a link to help you with using the search.

Also this thread is not about a shattered clutch, so don't try to make it like I kicked you when you were down.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Hyper16-Johnny &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">may have to be used to rebuild their tranny(itr tranny rebuild=a kick in the *****).</TD></TR></TABLE>

Why do you need to rebuild the tranny?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Hyper16-Johnny &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i didnt mean to offend anyone, if i did, i'm sorry. i haven't had the best of luck on the forums... </TD></TR></TABLE>

Stop being so sensitive and realize that not every comment is meant to be negative and you'll be fine. This board is a useful resource if used properly.

Also ignore that "Soup ****" guy, he insults people when he can't help because he does not know the answer to the question.

i may have to rebuild because, if in fact i did shatter the clutch, whatever particles came from the clutch may have damage the tranny. i'm gonna have my mechanic check out the tranny saturday...

The clutch is completely separated from the transmission case and the fluid inside it. And if its not, well you've got a big problem
