4 Wheel Brake job quote....Too much???
I brought my 90 Accord LX to someone I trust somewhat, but I was wondering.... He told me my total cost would be $320.00, and that includes Replacing the Pads, shoes, and resurfacing the rotors on the front wheels. On my back drum brakes they are Resurfacing something as well (I forget what he said, either Rotors or Drums?) and the shoes are being replaced as well. I was wondering if $320.00 is too high, just right, too low for a job I just described? Thanks.

shops around me, its 90$ for 2 brake pads, 25$'s each rotor resurfacing... 180 +100 = 280 but you said your getting other stuff done also right? so its a decent price!

that's pretty high. Should be around $110-130 an axle...cheaper on the rears....and that's with oem honda pads/shoes. Shop around some more.
Resurfacing rotors for $25 each? wtf?!!?? Are they actually using OEM honda parts? I highly doubt it unless you specifically ask and SEE THE NEW BOXES.
But if it' a family friend......
But then I can swap pads on the front in 20 minutes at a cost of $40.
I have yet to see a car in ten years of wrenching that needs both front AND rear (or vs versa) at the same time. Don't buy **** you don't need.

I'm not being mean, but get yourself a slide hammer and Helms manual and learn how to do it yourself.
as far as 320, its not baaaad, but is a little on the high side. btw, nothing special about honda pads, wagners are just fine as are CM and Bendix. Buy online and you will knock down the price of the overall job, hjust make sure you see a full quote, because if you bring in your own, he will prolly pad other parts of the bill to compensate for the lost margin for the OEM pads

Well the job is done and I'll give the stats. Front pads were replaced, rotors resurfaced. The rotors are pressed on as well. Rear drums resurfaced and shoes were replaced. The job took about 7 hours to complete and I ended up paying $278.00. What do you guys think?
I got in good with my auto teacher from High School. Anytime I need regular maintenance(that doesn't involve the engine bay) on my car, I just take it to his class and he has a couple kids do it for me. I know how to do it, I'm just lazy.
But yes, $320 sounds like a good price to me. Sounds like your getting the works.

good lord 7hrs to do that work, wtf was he doing, resurfacing the rotors by hand with a piece of sand paper? That job is a 1-2hr job max.
And it shouldn't matter if the rotors are pressed on or not, if your gonna cut the rotors, cut them on the car with an on car lathe, or don't cut them at all.
For our pressed on rotor setups its just not economical to pay the labor to remove the rotor and have them resurfaced.
You can get replacement rotors for like 25 bucks a side, machine shops charge about 10 bucks on avg to resurface a rotor when you bring it to them, for 15 bucks more i rather installed new rotors.
Cut rotors are obviously thinner and weaker than a fresh new rotor. So if you are paying the labor to take off the rotor you might as well throw on a new one.
