Default Yay or gay? ahoooooga!

If you're like me, you love everything about your R except for the piece of crapola roadrunner meep meep horn. I thought about the alternatives like the Ferrari dual air horn sound, but everyone and their mother seems to be doing that these days. I wanted to be a bit original, but I thought that maybe the Dukes of Hazzard's "Yellow Rose of Texas" melody that the General Lee sang while jumping strategically placed hills, would be a bit much for the streets of Tokyo.

So, I was looking around on E-bay for an idea and found someone selling an antique Ahoooga horn from a classic Model T Ford. You know the one that makes tha raspy rusty sounding ahooooga sound. It's different, and certainly original, but is it too much...or would it be cool on an R? What do you think?

I am use to Japanese car horn for more then 20yrs so no big deal. In US, aftermarket one get stereotype. In the 80's, I like Bosch or FIAM Air horn like the Ferrari's or Lambo but now is the Rat Lunch Truck horn when they acknowledge themselves coming by factory
warehouse.

Different, yes. My only concern is the db level. Something tells me these are not too loud, and noise is good.

I put my hella's in so I can blast the hell out of ignorant soccer moms... You could maybe pair it with another horn?

Dood.....do the General Lee horn. Nobody in Japan has ever heard of the Dukes of Hazard unless they're making fun of it like we make fun of whatever the hell "extreme elimination challenge" is. I dunno man....thats up to you though.

The general lee thing was a joke...and believe it or not some people have it here...but the most popular musical horn is the theme from The Godfather

I say go for it. Hook it up to a second relay/button, so you can keep the stock "Road Runner" horn. Friend of mine had that horn on his old '76 Bronco, and it was loud as hell

I'm very tempted to hook up an air horn like that on the wagon, to distinguish between a polite "hey hoser, the light's green" and a "get the ***** out of my way, assbag!"

You never knew this guys! The ITR horn was the only thing I disliked when I bought it. I changed it on the second day I got my R and it was also the the first mod in my R! I bought a universal FIAAM horn which sounds great now. The stock ITR horn is gay IMO.

I dont like the idea ahoooooga horn

I'd say do it too, man that would be funny every time I heard it. And I'm pretty sure there are aftermarket companies that replicate that horn at modern db's.

Hmmm - turbo car with aoooooga horn.

Doesn't scream 'performance' to me.

But JDM folks might think it's cool.

Do what you want.

I prefer Hella horns myself.

To be different on the street is good but this ahooooga horn might just be foolish and immature....Have fun with it though and post reactions of your fellow companions in Japan towards the horn

I think it's a neat idea to use the Dukes or a Model T kind of horn. Think of the personal satisfaction you'll get from the looks of confusion you'll generate. You can't help but laugh or smile when you honk your horn at someone...and it'll probably help to diffuse any road rage you'll feel because you were cut off, looked at, etc...

Eddie.

A friend of mine installed an Amtrak train horn in his CRX, and everytime he uses it, he's got to readjust his rear view mirror. Naaaasty
