Default good price for itr?

Hey guys/gals,

I recently bought a gti after looking for what seemed like an eternity for a nice itr. To my surprise, I finally found one and I'm thinking of selling my gti for it. I'm looking at a white 98 ITR pretty much stock w/~24,000 miles on it (all he has are a set of ssr competition wheels w/s03's). Owner wants $25k and is pretty desperate to sell so willing to negotiate. (Has a baby on the way). What is a fair deal to offer. I know kbb doesn't really give an accurate value, or so I've heard...

Thanks!

I certainly wouldn't pay $25,000 for it. I'm thinking for a mint condition stock 98 with that kind of milage would probably best be suited to around $18,000.

That's what I was thinking too. He's definately willing to negotiate, which is good. He's throwing in the stock wheels too (with brand new azenis)...can't imagine what it would be like driving it home to chicago with either set (s03's vs. azenis).

thanks for the replies. I'll throw some numbers at him and see what he can do. Hopefully I'll have an itr within the week! I like my gti, but the itr is more me.

I read the first post and before I read anyone else's response, I immediately thought $18K.

If you hit snow, pull over and wait till the roads are dry.

Not mine, although I'm in the area and at a different day or time it could have easily been my PY with HID.

BTW, it's "whose", not "who's":

who's = who is: "Who's going to the ITR Expo 4?"
whose = possession, belonging: "Whose ITR has the HID lights?"

If it has all the service records, clears Acura tech checks (~$200 at a local dealer), and in MINT condition: $20k tops.

Reasonable price: $18-$20k.

It just depends on how desparate both parties are. You definitely won't find many '98 w/ 24k miles these days. If you take care it, it'll last for at least another 10 years.

after buying that car, let me know if you need wheels for snow tires. I have a set of CRV wheels taking up precious garage spage.

Like everyone else says, $25k is way too much. $18 is better.

Two years ago I payed 17k for 98 ITR with 30k in very good shape.

I wouldn't pay 18k now thats for sure. More like 17k with those miles/mods now. But to each is their own.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies guys! It REALLY REALLY helped. I got the guy to come on here to take a look at this thread and he immediately agreed to sell it for $18k! I guess he was pretty desperate since he didn't even bother to negotiate a little. Anyhow, I drove home on the s-03's...YIKES...pretty damn scary especially with the conditions tonight. Guess I'll hang onto my gti until the weather clears up.

Being that it's a 98, take a wild guess.

Just do the seller a favor... if your not going to buy the car tell and dont just flake on him.

I'm getting my share of those trying to sell over the internet. That and lowballers.

That guy is crazy wanting 25K even if it has one mile on it.

Weren't those Supersonic Blue Pearl?
One of those idiosyncratic ITR years and colors.

I'm a little confused...I did buy the car from him.

I know how tough it is selling a car; however, dealing with lowballers and flakes is an unfortunate aspect that comes along with it. I plan on having to confront this when I sell my gti soon. It wasn't any different when I sold my wrx and jetta last year!

Anyhow, I absolutely LOVE my itr. Can't wait til the weather warms up a little so I can auto-x!!!! Hopefully I'll see some of you fellow Chi-town itr owners around. BTW, it's white w/17" "platinum"/silver ssr competitions.

Welcome to the "I sold my WRX and got an ITR" club. I think we're the only members, but still...
