Default Problem: 97 teg with jdm ITR cluster, someone help

Has anyone put one in there car that was newer than your year (Ex. 97 car with a 98 cluster). My tach is not getting any signal. I have already tried changing the distributor that didn't fix it.

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem like this before.

I know that the newer cluster in the older car doesn't work for some reason, so changing the back circuit board can help fix this problem. I tried that, that also did not work, although it was an auto circuit board. Don't know if that matters. Is there something else i am missing?

Please give me your thoughts.
