Was the head milled? If so, your marks will be off.

the marks a lot of times won't be absolutely perfectly lined up. It is normal for them to be off from one another as much as 1-2mm. No more than this though. If you do, indeed, have half a centimeter of variation, it may be off a tooth. best way to know is to set you belt on with marks as close as you can get them. Then allow tensioner to add tension to belt and then, using socket and breaker bar, turn engine over 3-5 revolutions and put crank back at TDC and then inspect to see if cam marks are still off or are lined up. If lined up (again within 1-2mm of each other), belt should be properly installed and you should be able to continue. If marks are a tooth or more out, obviously, they are not in time and must reinstall belt again.

Hope this helps...

PS. don't forget to set ignition timing after t-belt installed.

ps:your timing will be rougly 1/2 degree off because of the milling

dude tight. that was more then anything i ever gotten from anyone. i guess i'll go and try again. hopefully it didn't damage my new crower valves i bought. haven't put it in my car but all the crankn i've been doing to try to align the TDC marks, hopefully didn't mess them up along with my new arias pistons. but wait do you think it could of mess them up. now you guys got me all scared. sh*t hopefully everything is all cool. didn't feel any resistance when turning the crank. read that if i did feel resistance then the valves are contacting the pistons but i didn't so hope everything is okay.
