Default I have a noise for you to help with!!!

Ok heres the deal, My 2003 RSX (12,000 miles on it) has this noise coming from the rear hatch. Its there mostly when its cold outside and if I am driving down a not-so-smooth road. I removed all the hatch trim so you can see the glass seam with the hatch in trying to isolate the area. It still does it...the noise is like somebody tapping on the glass. If it does it and I reach back and push against the glass with my hand it goes away. Now the funny part. I thought I found it the first time when I noticed the body seam for the hatch above the rear wiper seemed to be opended up and not spot welded closed...If I grabbed the metal and pinched them together it would go "pop" as I released and sqeazed it. Funny hugh. I just want to see if anybody else out there has had a noise like this and what was the correction.

It also no real pattern...

Thanks for listening

BTW: I am hoping that a full set of Alex Racing bars will help it. Front upper, Rear strut tie bar and C-pillar bar.

I do get a noise where it sounds like someones flicking the rear glass when my car goes over bumps. Its been like that since I got the car. Have you tried adjusting the stoppers? I've heard it supposedly fixes it.

Mine does that also. It's like a little knocking or tapping noise from the trunk. I also notice this knock sound from under the passenger side.

Yes I have, and I can't get it to stop. The most frustrating thing is that the noise has no real pattern to it. Somrtimes I'm just cruisin with my Lady and it starts to do it. I guess I'll have to leave it at the dealership and see what they can find.

Funny I work there and its still inconvenient for me

I don't think there's anything wrong with that if it does that in extreme cold weather only. As the dealership people will probably say "it's one of the characteristics of the rsx" lol.....

Your really lucky though, you work at the dealer at least you know who'll be working on your car

I know its not a flexing of anything, b/c it has done it sitting still in the driveway while the engine run idleing high.

What do you mean "bending"...

Mine sounds like a little wire or something is just barely touching the glass and then it just vibrating away...Sounds like its right there close somewhere. Its not muffled at all...

I think I may have figured it out today,

I found some EPT tape that Honda uses to help wire chaffing and it was over the rear window refroster wires....I removed it and bent the tabs slightly...Now I have to drive my car for a couple of days and see if its it.

EPT is some kind of acronym for a cushion tape....Like maybe Electrical Protection Tape or something..It comes in rectangles about 4" by 2" maybe...Its like closed cell foam on one side and sticky tape on another...We use it everywhere...but the adhesive is sticky and on the glass it was sounding exactly like what I was hearing.

Zach you should just break down and bring it in to a real dealer . You know how techs LOVE those impossible to find noises

Very Funny Ace , haven't given them a chance yet, Its so sparatick that I don't want to waste their time...

I think I got it figured out, with the EPT tape and all...I'm going to put the rear trim back together this weekend and then road test it all week and see...
