When installing a canister style muffler, what is the maximum length allowable for clearance?

I dont want to slant it if not nessesary.

To run a straight out 14-16 inches max seems to work.

 

that all depends on the rear antisway bar...

Mine is 14 inch, and too small for my taste.

when we tried to keep my can after the crx rear swaybar install, the 14" would not fit being straight, and the muffler shop said it would look gay and scrape if they angled it. That was before it was cool to have crooked mufflers.
I wanted to find a 12" muffler, but I just threw a freebie stockish muffler on from a friend.

so if you want crooked 14" may work, but for a straight one, 12" and it'll still be a sharp bend.

 

I agree, it was a little tricky with my sway bar too.
