What car if you had that was similar to the R before you bought the ITR?
Just trying to see what you had that was close to the ITR you own now.
show a pic if you have.
I'm aiming for platform- F engine/ fwd...
My closet car that I had was the 89 MX6 GT Turbo.
fwd, 5spd, 4/5 seats light weight (2700lbs), good handling, good brakes, 195-60 tires...
Just trying to see how you would compare it to the R now.

I had a 97 Civic DX.... 
Then I had a 98 Integra GSR.
At the same time my brother had a 97 Prelude
I would have to say the Lude is in the same ball park as the ITR with a couple mods. My GSR was a nice car that I managed to destroy, but I really enjoyed it.

Not even close to the R, but it was just as fun in different way

I had a 91 CRX a few years back, first time I experienced VTEC! 
Totalled it after getting owned by lift throttle oversteer, and had to live with crappy cars for nearly 5 years until getting my baby in october 2002.
