I believe he's asking what certification they carry (DOT, Snell, etc.). The Suomy helmets are NOT Snell, but they do carry the British equivalent (BSI something something), so they are ok to use on a racetrack.

Here's a link that I found informational http://www.helmetharbor.com/snell/comparison.htm

I bought a 100 dollar HJC helmet, and granted, it is a little on the heavy side, but it's also DOT and SNELL approved.

I wouldn't ever buy an expensive helmet cause you should replace them every 6-8 months anyway.

6 months?! According to who? Assuming you don't crash in it, knock it off your seat, etc, a helmet should be fine for a few years.

Yes, I don't know where you got the 6-8 months information, but your helmet dealer must be very rich. If you take good care of your helmet, then you should expect it to last forever. However, manufacturers say that you should replace your helmet every 5 years, not because of damage, but because the polystyrene material can deteriorate and be less-effective at protecting your noggin.

Now, if you purchase a $100 HJC, then replace it every year, by five years, you'll have spent $500, which would be a nice Shoei or Arai or Suomy. I'd rather have the one expensive helmet.

Dibs on the Capirossi!!!! :D

If you're replacing a helmet ever 6-8 months you either need to stop riding or get one of those leashes attaching your helmet to your wrist or something

I don't think I'll own anything less than my Arai. Where a cheap helmet for a week and then wear an expensive one like an Arai for a week. Trust me, you won't go back to cheap again.

Props on the Biaggi. If I had a job, I would pick up the Biaggi in a heartbeat. Not only does it look good, but it's the only one that would fit my noggin.

I have an ARAI and a SUOMY and both are exceptionally well made. Both offer great ventilation and comfort.

FOR A GREAT PRICE

excellent helmets, i have a Spec1R also. prices are pretty good, i got mine a little cheaper off ebay, but my local shop sells it for 400!

hey Jeff, do you sell any iridium shields?

warning though- they are tighter than say arai or shoei so you should get 1 size larger

So your trying to say that if I wear a medium Arai, and I wanted to get a suomy, I should get a large? Just wondering because I'm interested getting a Suomy. I just like to collect helmets.
