Default What clutch to go with? I'm clueless?!

A little while back I installed the centerforce dual friction clutch kit in my 96 civic and it slips like hell. I'm not sure how much HP I'm pushing but I have a built engine with a t3/t4 turbo (10psi) and hondata. It's pretty quick and I want to crank up the boost more but I cant cause my damn clutch keeps slipping. And yes I had the flywheel turned and yes I installed it correctly. What clutches can handle say around 300 torque / 350hp? I would like to clutch to stay streetable though! Any opinions???

How much do you want to spend? If you have a money tree I would say get a Tilton.

PM the ACT dood on here...or hit up any clutch site and check out their applications. I'm sure there's specs. Streetable clutch while pushing 350+hp? Hmm.

You can get good prices on clutch kits on ebay. Just don't buy the ones that say "Like ACT" or "Like Greddy"...just stay away from the ones that say they're "like" something they're not.

ACT is the best IMO. I wouldn't go with anything else.

A Tilton clutch is a overkill for his set up. Tiltons twin discs are race clutchs that can support 500whp+. At most he's making around 260-300whp so a ACT heavy duty with street disc or a Clutch Masters Stage 4 is fine.

The CM clutch has a lighter pedal feel as compared to the ACT.
Both will be great for your application and they are relatively cheap.

ACT Street/Strip w/ heavy duty pressure plate I'm not running that much power, but it is a nice clutch and in the 14 months I've had it I haven't had any problems The pedal is harder than stock, but you get used to that REAL quick, and then you just have a stronger left leg

Damn thats what I need. The titanium rod in my right leg is just to solid. My left leg is jealous. LOL.

Any of you guys hear anything good about SPEC clutches? What about this stage 3 clutch? Holds 289ft-lb torque... Would this be good for me? If so, should I go with the 6 pad or 3 pad? http://www.clutchcityonline.com/spec/honda.htm Its in the 92-01 Civic SOHC section.

agreed...i had the CM stage 3 on my B18C1 at 12psi for about four years with no problems.the Centerforce Dual Friction is very similar to this, and i would think it would have held up...anyway,i'd go with a CM stage 4 just to ensure you have enough clutch for however much boost you do decide to run.a little grabbier than the stage 3,but well worth it for the increase in holding power.

I THINK the ACT SS/HD would be a good setup. We have run that clutch on my room mates boosted ITR for almost 2 years. Still feels like new and grabs like a summmabeech.

Right now we're pushing minimum 350 whp untuned and feels great.

I have the SS/HD on my stok Z6 setup and love it. Nice and easy for the daily, and grabes great when needed.

That clutch is only rated 50% over stock (223ft-lbs) Wouldnt you think that that is kinda close to making the clutch start slipping? Would you think the HC5-XT00 (Extreme Pressure Plate w/ Street Disc Kit) rated at 270ft-lb would be a safer bet? I dont need another slipping clutch! I would rather be safe than sorry!

I don't hgave experience with the XT pressure plate, but you said you wanted a streetable clutch.

The SSHD setup has seen MANY a rips and 14 psi on a 2 liter ITR with 10:1 compression and a t3/t4 hybrid turbo. Never once slipped. Grabs like mad.....but yes, better safe than sorry

Your centerforce clutch is rated to +/- 225ft/ls (as per several calls to centerforce)
If it's slipping, you need to go with a stiffer PP, or a more aggressive disc.

For all the B-SERIES People answering this post, you shouldn't bother as the B-series clutches are moch stronger by design than the d-series.

As for a clutch to use, If your centerforce PP is still good, you should maybe just buy a 6 puck Sprung disc and use that... It should give you enough strength while minimizing cost and keeping decent streetability.
