Default The Carbon fiber hood repair has Started!!!..........

Ive always wondered if i could fix my cracked and messed up CF hood.... after alot of thinking ive decided to try.

Vis CF hood:
Right front -torn/cracked on top, torn on bottom
Right rear -The whole mounting section torn off

I started tonight on the major crack top and bottom. I fiberglasses the bottom cracks while holding the hood with clamps.

Goal: My goal is to repair all the crack/tears by refiberglassing, then eventually painting to match the car

Project pictures: Started with..

about an hour of work...
This is what ive done so far to the right front(just sanded, got lined up good)

This is what ive worked on/repaired on the lower front right.

More to come... any ?'s

for others who might need repair....
I had the same kind off problem with my hood, person I bought it from didn't insure it when shipped and it got dropped, I don't know what happened to the before picture but it was cracked the whole way through the corner, I repaired it with fiberglass, and filled the top surface with fiberglass resin to keep it smooth, you cannot tell that anything was done, and it actually looks better with part of it painted.. If you are close to the car you can see that the honda logo is actually the carbon fiber underneath, sorry about the quality of the pic, the stripe is gunmetal to match the rims and grey of carbon

thanks all... the resin is still wet... i dumped that stuff on. I put a heater by is so it should be dry later. Tonight i am going to take off the clamps and finish fiberglassing the front right lower corner.

I can post pics if anyone wants to see.
