i want to know if these two engines uses the same knock sensor??

 

If I am correct, I believe the D16y8 does not house a Knock Sensor. But from what I was told a while back, you need to use B-series KS anyways.

 

the d16y8 uses a ks, i am asking cause i am running a p72 ecu on my 95 ex,but i am using a y8 block,and it have an opening for the ks.i will like to know if a b18c and y8 ks are the same,cause in a few months my friend will be needing a ks for his b18c that he is going to install in his del sol,along with the p72 ecu i am curently using.

 

are the b series and d series ks interchangeable???

does a knock sensor for an obd1 ecu difers from the one for a obd2 ecu??

 

the 96-00 civic EX ecu, does not read a knock sensor... so it should not have one.

 

yes they read a ks.the y8 block that i am using came with one,and in my friends 96 ex also have one.

no body else,i don't know of hondas in P.R. are diferent,but here 96+ civic ex came with a ks.i know what a ks is,and my y8 block had one but is was broke.

Y8 blocks DO have a knock sensor! (96-00 EX)

I really don't think the sensors are the same between the D and B series, BUT, If it fits then you should be able to use it. They all operate in a similar fashion. The differences should only be in placement and size/shape... It's definitely worth a try.

the 96-00 civic ex has a knock sensor...i thought everything with vtec has a KS. but i know for a fact that the d16y8 has a KS.

i looked on hondaautomotiveparts.com and the part number for the 99 d16y8 KS is 18478. i looked for a 99 b16a2 also but couldnt find the listing.

on autozone.com the part numbers are the following:
99 d16y8 - SU4778 $105
99 b16a2 - SU4779 $112
95 b18c1 - SU4779 $112

so i am not sure. my guess was that they might be interchangable...but now i am not too sure about that. sorry. anyone else?

mmmm well according to Hondaswap.com's reference... it said it did not, house a KS..... but I guess they were wrong, and that's where I got the info from, so I too was wrong... sorry.

 

just to let you guys know i did use a B series knock sensor in my D16Y8 and it worked just fine. it is the same size and shape...just black not blue. but it works.

 

super, now i know for sure!!
