JDM engine codes......
is this correct
b18c-r is a ITR engine
b18c is a "Japanese GSR"
b16b is a CTR
b16a is a "Japanese si"
please hlep me out, maybe we can make a sticky engine code post.
now blocks are all stamped b18c with nothing else, so how do you tell the differance between the JDM ITR and the rest.
But the CTR b16b is one of a kind. No other egnines uses that code, correct?

B18C (JDM '94-96 Integra GS-R)
B18C (JDM '97-01 Integra GS-R)
that explaint A LOT
isnt there more after the c's. Honestly how do you know you are getting the r, if the all use the b18b code

The last time I checked a GSR head is differnt from an ITR head
. I don't know how you can tell the year though, maybe a serial number somewhere on the block, likewise, I bet that number would tell you what kind of engine it really is.

yes they all stamped B18C on the block but you can open up the valve cover and check out inside...
the type R parts has P73 on it
the type R has B16A head and has PR3 stamped and GSR long block has p72 stamped on it
GSR has GSR head and GSR long block, and it has P72 stamped on it
the easiest way to identify which one is read deal R motor, check the compression... it is around 235 psi on JDM type R motor

are you that much of an idiot? on the head, its stamped what year the motor was made. and to tell from the GSR, look at the intake manifolds, a clear difference.

No way. The compression won't tell you anything about it being a R motor or a GSR motor.

I agree
I've seen usdm gsr's with that had those compression numbers
