Here's the rundown on my car:
- 1990 Civic Std Hatch (red, minor dings and dents, 165k miles, clean title)
- 1992 B17A Complete Swap with OBD1 Conversion and P61 ECU (approximately 110k miles on it)
- HASport Billet Motor Mounts (street compound)
- 1992 Integra GS-R front disc brakes
- 1992 Integra GS-R rear disc brakes, ebrake cables
- 1991 Civic Si Gauge cluster with my original speedo to keep original miles on the clock
- 1991 Civic Si clock
- 1989 Civic Si center console
- 1991 Civic Si glovebox
- 2000 Integra CD Player / Radio
- New OEM Civic hatch floormats (new as of 1 year ago when I bought them)
- 1992 Integra GS-R front seats
- stripped rear interior (i still have all the parts)
- JDM EF9 front end (CLEAN headlights, bumper lights and corner lights, black with one green fender, needs minor body work before being painted)
- JDM EF9 rear spoiler with LED brake light (black)
- JDM EF hatch rear tail lights with JDM red center piece (puffy Civic emblem, not sticker)
- HKS Hiper exhaust system for DA modified to fit the EF chassis
- Test Pipe
- Jimfab front crossmember and traction bars (not installed yet)
- 91 CRX Si steering rack with non-ripped boots (not installed yet)
- RS*R drop springs with 95 integra gs-r shocks (not installed yet)
- 92 Integra GS-R front and rear swaybars with civic mounting hardware (not installed yet)
My friend wants to trade me his bone stock 1989 240SX fastback (180SX body) with 206k miles on it that he just picked up for $1k the other day + $2000 cash for my car. I only owe $1600 on my car, so i'd be pocketing $400 on the deal and I would have the title to the 240 in hand.
I'm thinking redtop sr20det swap, big FMIC, 3" dp and exhaust, z32 5-lug brake conversion & mc, ebc to raise boost, s15 hid headlights from my friend with the s13.5 fenders, s15 cf hood, s15 aftermarket front bumper, rps13 kouki tail lights, and i've got a pretty sweet daily driver during the week, in addition to my GT-R on the weekends.
what does everyone think? should i go for it?

i think i could get $4-5k out of my EF if I parted it, but i'm actually only into it $3000-3500 since i got *KILLER* deals on most of my parts (ie. $1300 for a complete 92 gs-r wrecked). i ony owe $1600 on it.
i've never driven an FR car before, i'm used to FF only. i love the way my skyline drives and handles though, and i see lots of potential in this s13. i look at what my end goals would be for my civic vs the s13 and I see myself a lot happier and more satisfied in the end with the s13.
any other opinions?

You shouldn't be paying more than 3500 for a stock 240, especially an 89!
Just check out prices on recycler.com, i don't think many 89s would hit past 3k at all.

whoa, what color, condition, body style, mods, etc... on your 240? i would be down to meet you if you're serious.

i'm going for it I think guys. the new owner said he'd let me drive it whenever i want, and if he ever decides to sell it i have automatic first dibs. good deal!
If the project phase is where you get your enjoyment, sell the EF and start again on a 240
If the payoff for all that hard work is what drives, you...keep your car and enjoy it.
There's a lot to be said for having the car paid for and no debt...if you could avoid going into debt to modify the 240, that would be the most fiscally prudent choice.

if the 240 was swapped then i would say ok....but other then that..dont do it...but then u seem adament on getting it....follow your heart....because you will end up regretting it...i sound like a love story...hahah...
I really love my 240. Just something about a RWD car. I am not real into body kits and conversions so to me it would be up to which ever car is faster. The swapped 240 or the civic you have now.

the guy semi backed out of the trade. kind of frustrating, but hey, what can ya do? i'll be finishing up the project that this EF has truly been. install suspension, do body work, strip and paint the whole car. then i'm thinking about some ITR cams, and a 2.5" collector header until I can afford a turbo setup.
