My friends car is a 96 LX 4 door with just an intake its an auto. Yesterday he started his car up and his speedometer went up to 20mph and just stayed there. After he drove it around a couple a minutes it went back to normal and worked fine. It does it 90% of the time he starts it up. Anyone know what this could be? It also does it by just puting the key in the on position without actually starting the car.

 

Has the cluster been tampered with?

 

its been taken out once that i know of. Just to look at, nothings been altered to it.
