Mini Me question

Default Mini Me question

We just put together a mini me with a D16Y7 (96DX) block with a D16Z (92 si) Head with a D16Y8 (99 EX) intake manifold. The question I have is what timing belt do i need to use? will the D16Y7 timing belt work?? TIA

naw you should use the sohc vtec only timing belt.

its a ls/vtec but with sohc vtec motors.

anyone know what timing belt i should use?? a 92 EX/SI timing belt or a 96+ EX timing belt??? 96 DX block with 92 SI head...

I bolted a 97 EX head on my 96 DX. Belts were identical. You have to think though, if they were different the swap would not work since you have the EX cam sprocket and the DX crank sprocket.

BTW I used a 98 EX belt. What you can do is go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and check the part number of the belt for each motor. It's probably the same. Also, it's MUCH cheaper to get one from this site. I paid like 25 or 30 and I think O'Reillys wanted like 65.

the newer style heads 96 up are different than the 92-95 ex/si heads the reason mplex's head swap used the same belt is because the non-vtec head is based on the same casting as the 96 up ex vtec head. i'm not sure but i would probably try the belt from the same year head u are using. if u don't get a striaght answer try the hybrid board or the old one's board
