Hello, my friend bought a 94 hatch civic some days ago. Today i drove it around a little and i noticed that at around 3500 RPM it suddenly starts to "pull" a little more than normal. Just like it suddenly gets some extra power... i know that the engine power rises with the RPM (to some limit), but in this case the power just "goes on" in a very short RPM range. From what i have read on these forums, it is just like when VTEC goes on... but i'm confused because it is a 1994 D15B2 engine and i think it's not an VTEC engine. Some people told me that it could be VTEC-E (VEI) engine, but it has different code (D15Z1 i think). So is it VTEC or not ?

Thanks for the reply, i'm just wondering how is it possible that he has D15B2 at the engine plate in engine bay; is should be D15Z1 for VTEC-E...?
