Default Question for Volk Racing Wheels (TE37)

I am looking to get a new wheels. Own a 02 yellow s2k. Thought it would be perfect to get volk wheels, model number (TE37) with gun metal color.
I think I will go with 17" instead of 18"s. Not planning of getting new suspension any time soon. Also 18s cost TOO MUCH!!!
What do you guys think? And does anyone own this type of wheels and where is the best place to perchease for best price?

Check out s2ki.com. The tire rack is one of the site sponsors, and Jim form the tire rack has some pretty good deals.

Tirerack does not carry Volk wheels. But definately check out S2Ki.com for more info about the wheels and how they look on the S2K.

If you care about looks, you'll want to run something that you can lower the car with b/c 18s on stock height will not be appealing to the eye.

Apparently you haven't been to Michigan. A road here sucks!!!
I thought about getting 18's only if I move out the state.

(For other)-I am already a member of s2ki.com and check with them.
I don't think they have the one that I am looking for.

ummm, don't mean to scare you, but, it did take me 3 MONTHS for my gram light 57s, rays is SLOW specially when the color has to be special ordered... such as gun metal. As far as I remembered, volks don't come with the right offset... you really need some short travel suspension, or roll your fender. If you care about cornering, 16inch does give you a better corner exit speed.
as far as style... ADVAN RG WORK emotion TE37... too many of them out there.

Please support your claim that 16s will give you better corner exit speeds.

what kind of offsets can an s handle. I am also getting volk te-37's in 16's most likely, maybe 17's, but they are going to be wide, and I am wondering what offsets would fit better.

Hi, I got some 18" Volks.. if your going for looks then 18's are the way to go. Handling hasnt been sacrificed too much but you will feel every little bump on the road. Look for my User name on s2ki.com, I just posted pics of my gunmetal 18's on my car.

I've got a friend with a stook and he's selling his 18" le37t's. (gunmetal with polished lip). One of them has minor curbage. The other look great. I know you're looking for 17" te37's, but he's offering them for a good deal. Let me know if you might be interested and I'll shoot you his phone number.

16inch have less rotational intertial, therefore, you have better corner exit speed.
I wasn't saying that 16 is better that 17. One obviouse problem with 16 is its high sidewall. Handling won't be as good as 17.

hrm, it's not that simple but you have a point worth talking about. This can get very technical but I'll keep it simple by saying that the time spent on a road course simply accelerating out of corners in a straight line is shared with entry and mid corner. To make a very generalized statement that 16s are better b/c they have less rotational inertia and you get better exit speed is a big no no. There are SO many variables that it becomes irrelevant what wheel size you have on the track and it comes down to what you can afford to run in tire sizes and what's available.

ok, rotational innertia also translates to torque. This torque is a force acting perpendicular to your wheel, in another word, this force is pulling you off your line.
(the car will veer right under hard accl) In road racing, the racing line is the straightest possible line. You accl at the apex. Anyway, as far as the wheel is concerned, you want samll diameter, so this innertia will be smaller, and thus less torgue. But, the trade off is high tire wall will mess up the cornering. Another point of having big wheel is to fit large diameter brake roter. From my personal experience, I do feel 16's are more predictable at the apex then 17th. (using the same compound and tread) And. with 16's, my lap time is consistantly 0.6 sec faster. However, if you wanna do drift, then it dosen't matter cuz there is no braking point in drifting.
maybe I am wrong, just how I personally felt and understand it.

You are correct in some points but I wish it could be as simple as you explained. However, there are so many forces acting on a car, the suspension and the tires that it's difficult to make a bold statement that 16" wheels are better for "racing" and reduce lap times. Variables are too many.
