Bad night at the track and what make 93 vtec runs 14s
When to the track ran 3 times , 1st run with 10s 5.0, 2rd run with lsvtec hatch (13s damn), 3rd run with zetta turbo 15.7s. I all have 15s in 3 runs, what can i do to have a 14s 93 vteclude(i have cold air, exhaust, strip trunk, front seat took out)what more can i do
NOS?
it all depends upon driver skill.
My best run to date ('96 Prelude VTEC) with AEM intake, Greddy PE exhaust, Full interior w/200lbs stereo system, half full fuel tank, and 17" rims...I ran a 15.4.
Did you beat my time?

One thing i don't know is, last week i went up there ran twice 15.5s and 15.6s
15.5 i got a bad start and 15.6 i missed 3rd gear(miss 3rd gear and get 15.6) i thought i can get in 14 but i was wrong

Lower tire PSI to around 25 or less.
Quick burnout in water.
When shifting to 3rd into 4th about to cross line, shift fast at around 6,700, before redline, this gives a little jump over the line.
Keep engine on ice before race. Not literial, well, in come cases people do.
Remove ait filter. Of course put back on after run.
Good luck...

practice...everyone thinks they can drive but after running your car over and over you will actually learn. Go to the track on a day when hardly anyone one is there and youll break into the 14's with your current setup.
Yeah, thats right...you should be able to hit 14's stock...and 93 is supposed to be the strongest year...work on your launches!

well, first off, drive around the water. Post your timeslips. 60ft times, 1/8 miles, 1/4 mile and all the trap speeds.

Slip the clutch from about 3k, you want some, not a lot wheel spin.. 14s in a 4th gen VTEC should come easy, hell, my car with a ****'d motor and a rollcage runs a 14.6..

this is maybe a stupid question cause i'm kidda new to drag, why drive around the water?? Anyways this is my time
R/T .883
60' 2.557
330 6.828
1/8 10.287
MPH 71.54
1000 13.230
1/4 15.729

I can't find my 1/4 time slips but I did find one from my best 1/8 mile time..
R/T .586 (that doesn't matter for ET though)
60' 2.28 (on 17" TSW blades)
1/8 9.40 at 75.9 mph
Your 1/8 is really slow! I don't know if its your launch, if your spinning to much or what.. You should be able to hit a 9.8 in the 1/8 stock easily..

why drive around the water??
Opinions vary, but most will tell you that a burnout on street legal radials is totally pointless.
Will people STOP saying, "why drive around water" - it is very annoying...
Driving though water allows you to burnout and clean debris off you tires, tires get heated, therefore stick to the asphalt better. Okay?

plus, with street tires, some water may stay in the tread of the tire. then you go to launch and get unexpected wheel spin. though, controlled wheel spin produces the best results.
yeah the 60' and 1/8 times are slow. you should aim for 2.2 60'. ive been told that the rule of thumb, every 0.1 off your 60', is 0.2 off your 1/4. that should put your right around high14/low15 range.

a lot of tracks wont let people on street tires drive through the water. and anyways, every seasoned drag racer will tell you that you shouldn't do it on street tires to begin with. street tires are NOT drag radials and do not need to be treated as such. the optimum operating temperature of a drag radial is much higher than that of a street tire(even a street slick). i wish i could remember the physics behind why it isn't that great for street tires(it really is a good topic). if i can remmber i'll post it. but i read a report about this topic before, at the end of the study it was universally determined that street tires are not benefited(and in some cases less effective) when using the burnout box.
on another note, work on those 1/8 times. i drive an Si and i get low 10's, high 9's even with a crappy start.

Z rated street tires will work well though. Of course slicks will lower your 1/4 mile by around .50 - just a thought...
Oh yeah, did anyone see the speed vision import show last night. Cubo's civic ran a 9.24 - WOW! That chick can drive. Also, there is a $25,000 check for any import to run 200 MPH. Anyhere can do that?
