Default help w/ swap please.. have to get this car running

i am currently tryin to help a friend get his swap done.. this is his setup, please tell me the easiest way to get this car running..

97 Civic dx car
92 jdm b16a
p30 ecu

and i can get get chipped p28 ecu for him to barrow also..

i was thinking that we would have to do this, tell me if it will work and not have any CEL

get our hands on a 96-98 civic engine harness, he doesnt have it cause it got thrown out... then after we get that harness get an obd2a-obd1 conversion harness and use the p30 or p28 ecu.. that sounds the best idea to me.

oh yea he isnt worried about emissons or anything at all using an engine that is older than the car right now, he is replacing this motor w/ a turbo setup after this year.

next does anyone have a 96-98 civic ex,dx,or even cx engine harness for sale???

what you said is your best bet, since the OBDI motor won't have the necesary OBDII sensors.
get a 96-98 harness and jumper with an OBDI ECU.some of the plugs(injectors for example)will be different-you'll need to swap them over to OBDI style.pretty straightforward though.

Use the stock engine harness. Get obdII injectors from any b-series motor. Get an obdII distributor for b-series vtec or repin the obdI distributor with the obdII plug from the dx motor. The colors match up on the wires to repin it. And get an obdII alternator or repin those plugs too. The easiest thing would be to just trade someone that needs obdI components for their obdII components. Then just wire it up accordingly. Get an obdII to obdI ecu jumper from jdmhondaparts. It's only $110 and use the p30 ecu.

since he has the existing harness from the B16 and all the plugs and wires in the P30 ecu could he just extend all the wires to meet each other and have it run correctly?

he is tring to find the easiest and fastest way to get this car on the road and get to work, before his wife makes him sell it

no...the easiest way is to get another 96-98 harness and an OBDI to OBDII jumper.

would it be easier to use a 96-98 EX specific harness? well at least thats what i did on mine, and everything was plug n play. and if you're gonna use and obd2-obd1 jumper harness, you should wire everything up in the engine bay to obd2.

Also, i got like 3 sets of obd2 injectors and clips if interested. also and obd2 b16 intake manifold.

If we can get the Ex 96-98 harenss that would be even better since the vtec wires are already ran. i liek that idea.

Ryan, your thoughts...?

Chris, your thoughts...?

scooter it is only 3 wires we need to run for the vtec ive done it before its not hard at all and we already have the clips from the jdm b16 so thats not a problem.. and then 1 wire for the knock sensor but its not needed w/ the p30 ecu...

was it an ek that you did the wiring on previously? cuz if so, then u guys are pros. cuz i think it was Hasport that did an install into an ek, and said you'd probably spend a day rewiring the ek dx, cx harness. but good luck to you guys on whatever route you take.

i jus figure, if you're gonna have to go out and get a harness anyways (since he doesnt have a stock one in his car) might as well find an ex one, unless u just find a great deal on a dx harness.
