Default Turbo Lag

Hey, I just put a recent post about NA vs Turbo......and alot of you guys said that a WRX has too much turbo lagg. Please tell me how I can get rid of it instead of a down/up pipe. (wish they had a subaru tech)

You probably need a device to control that, such as a tuneable ECU. Or an even smaller turbo lol.

Probably get better answers in the forced induction forum.

"Too much" is relative. Keep the revs over 3k by shifting at redline and lag wont be bad at all.

The WRX has 3 cats, one of them before the turbo. Replace the uppipe with a catless one and spool times as well as threshold will improve.
A downpipe and high flow cat will help immensely as well.
Personally, I felt much more difference from the 4" downpipe than just the uppipe alone.

but yeah, probably not the best forum to post this in.

did you testdrive wrx? i don't remember much lag or if any with turbo they come with. then again, i didn't really drive the car enough to notice all details.. in general you get lag when too low of compression + large turbo and bad exhaust setup.

It has a LEV (Low emissions vehicle) government rating.
Which is pretty impressive (in a tree hugger kind of way) for a 227hp turbocharged 4cyl.

IIRC, the 300hp STi is LEV as well!

Nasioc is cool, but still doesn't hold a candle to Honduh-Tech (as they would spell it)
