Default JDM Motors

First I gotta say, "Love the forum!", talk about getting all the right info in one place, man doesn't get much better than that! Ok the question I have for everyone is what experinces do you have with JDM Motors? (Alot from what I read) I'm thinking of doing a H23a1 swap with a H22a and just want to know what to look for when getting a JDM motor. I've heard pros and cons either way with it, but it seems ALOT of people do this swap so I was just wondering what you have come across in buying a JDM engine. Also, I want to Turbo the H22a maybe run around 12lbs of boost, will the JDM motor hold up pretty well without beefing up the inside so long as I don't get all crazy like with it? I look forward to the input and thanks again.

i don't have a jdm motor in my ride but i can tell you this,
if you want it to last, i wouldn't run more than 8 or 9psi
on stock internals.

p.s. welcome to the boards

Welcome to H-T!

..and BB1 JDM H22a is closed deck.

But if you want power then listen to SKDRCR. If you want big power then build the engine!

heres a pic of my '92 JDM engine:

If you want to boost I would recommend you buy a blown or POS USDM H22a and build it right the first time. It needs Iron sleeves and forged pistons, rods to boost over 6-7 psi in any reliable fashion. Some have done it but they have a lot of $$$ into tuning.

So pretty much what I'm getting from everyone and from what I've read is that if I want to Turbo around 11 or 12lbs then I should use the H23A1 with lower compression AND build the motor with sleeves, forged this and that, etc? (Which was the route I was going to go before I thought about the H22 swap)
