Default time to trade up..... ZX-6R, R6, R1, or 600RR.....

so this weekend, it was warm enough (if you could actually call it warm) to get out and ride some. my friend had to hit up the local Kawasaki/Yamaha/Honda/Suzuki dealership to see if they had a cargo net, so i looked at new bikes.

well, on the floor, sat an 03 R1 in blue. $1000 off sticker to move it out. so im thinkin... "hmmm, its a lot of bike, but damn, its not a bad price" normal price was $10,299, making the sale price $9,299

so they appraise my beat up 94 Katana at $1300!!! WOW! i only paid a grand for it. then they tell me they cant give me trade in on sale price, only off base price. so basically, i would only be getting $300 for my bike

so i pass up the deal, and leave. now i am thinking about going back and trading on something that ISNT on sale, since they told me my bike was worth $1300, im gonna go back and get them to apply it on something else. they have a new ZX-6R sittin on the floor for $7999 and a new R6 for the same price, and a 600RR for $8499.... all in blue . they also have a used 01 or 02 GSX-R 750 for $6999. i am just really not sure what i want, i just know i want a new bike. something better looking, a little faster, and handles better. oh, and blue

Could you sell the Katana privately for more? Or is $1300 the highest you could get?

I say go for the 600RR, but maybe I'm a bit biased.

Skip the R1, since you'd only be getting $300 off. You can't go wrong with any of the other three new bikes.

i love my f4i but i'd love to trade it in for a zx6-r (bike i was originally gonna get). I love the way the new ones look. so i would go with the zx6r

Well first off, they need to make a deal happen. Tell them you are serious and if they give you 1300 for your bike and 1000 off of the kawa then you will take it. I would go with the Honda 600RR. And to give you an idea of what you can get the bike for @ a local Honda dealership they told me they could let a 03' w/ no miles go for 7,399.00 thats somewhere around 8,000 out the door, they also offered to throw in a free helmet. Make sure they know that you are ready. You know what they can give you for your bike so, now go in and see what the lowest you can get the bike that you want for.

yea, the more i look at em, the more i like the ZX-6R. im gonna go back up there and sit on one, make sure its comfy for me. i'm gonna at least try and get a helmet thrown in with it, and maybe even try and get some frame sliders ..... my dad's businesses have bought a lot of stuff from there over the years.... couple of Yamaha 4 wheelers, big ones too, Grizzly 600s.... and we got some 1100STX Kawasaki JetSkis there too. hopefully i can pull one of those "i'm spoiled so do me right or you'll loose my dad's business" kind of bullshit. they dont know that its not true

Whatever the fianl price is tell them you want like $600.00 off of that. If they say no then you tell them look go talk to your manager are you sure you want to loose a deal over $600.00? My father owns a business and has perchased 5 new vechs from you, and you cant budge $600.00? Im going to take the bike here to get serviced and eventually I will move up to a 1000cc bike. Your gonna be making money on my trade in. . . . and you cant budge $600.00? I am a student, blah blah..... You gotta sweet talk them, you know wheel and deal.

as originally stated, those aren't great prices. The trade in is decent though. There is very little demand for your bike in the used market. I wouldn't get sucked into a decision for $300 or even $1300. Think about it, would you buy a hamburger w/ a bite out of it for a nickel? Besides, they should be more than happy to get rid of any 03s given the year, the incoming market and the off season. Shop or talk. Sounds like you have an idea of what you're doing. Think lower though. lots of new 04s, mid winter, plenty of leftover stock...

for where i live, they arent too bad honestly. dealerships arent big enough to move massive amounts, so they dont have as much markup as some dealers in larger areas would. this one is the biggest, so i know they have a little more room to work with. however, being in retail myself, i know that they cant just give it away, and they do have to make money on it, so i am not gonna be a complete *** about it if they say they cant go as low as i would like for them to.

sat on a zx6 last night.... almost dropped it twice sitting on it (its been snowing and my feet were stil wet, i felt like a total jackass). it sits a tad high for me, i like to be able to put my feet firmly on the ground at a stop, but that would be easy to fix. its feels pretty comfy just sittin on it, i like how my body feels on the thing, plus it just looks dead sexy... i mean, just look at the thing

I Did alot of research Before I bought my Zx6R 636, I am very Happy with It, and Honestly Belive i made the best choice!

Over all the bike does sit a little High in the rear, But once you get used to it your fine!

Plus it makes more power then any other 600cc bike!

Thats a Bone Stock Dyno Chart Corrected on a Dyno Jet Dyno.

I have not talked to anyone whom owns a Zx6R and regrets it...

Hah, too bad for me when I was 15 I was sitting on an interceptor and I figured, well it's only a 750, and when I tried to balance it... Down I went. I know now the interceptor weighs as much as a hayabusa, damn ABS.
