Hey if anyone can send me in the right direction, I am looking for a Kawasaki Ninja 500R or 250R. I am look for someone in VA that is selling one. I would also like to know what people think about them. I am a beginner by the way and have sifted through a number of options and those are the bikes that I have come to.

I had two offers but I don't know if they'll still be interested come spring. I wanted to wait until spring when there is more demand. It also gives me a chance to prep the bike and make sure I get all the spare parts together. Interested?

 

If you where anywhere near here i know a guy selling a 2000 250, he wants like 2000US for it but yeh, i am in canada soo =p

 

I will be selling my 500, but its a 93, for 1500 and I am in michigan!!

 

Have you met up w/ any local riders? They can be a huge asset in the beginning in giving you general tips and input on your riding and what to watch out for. They can also help you pick out a bike and look over a used one w/ you. A big money/headache saver

 

How much are you willing to spend on your first bike?

I think the 500 would be the better bike - you'll likely outgrow the 250 quickly (depending on how much you ride and more importantly, how much you WANT to ride).

Or how much posing and ripping straightways matters to you.

 

Well there is some basis for that claim. The ninja 250 is not exactly at home on the freeways and given limited riding experience can put the rider in a bad situation when it comes to other traffic. It simply can't "run away" from some situations as easily when its already goin 65-75. That's why I always consider the 500 as an option for those that need to travel freeways. The 250 is great for those that don't but the 500 gives you enough power to comfortably cruise w/ faster traffic as well as a good deal more torque which helps those not comfortable w/ the clutch slip and powerband.

 

The 250 has enough power for a beginner, you just have to rev it hard to get power.

 

Yeah I would not want to venture far from VA, but I was looking to spend like under 2000$. I do have Spring Break 8 March to 12 March so I might be able to travel a little bit farther.
