my friggin ignition coil died last nite and the dealer bent me over hard cause i hadto have it towed,fixed,etc.

anyhow this engine only has like 120k on it, i though this was premature,could i have an electrical gremlin?

what normally causes the coil to go bad?

 

yea dude between the coils and dist , on our crx they break all the time
as a matter of fact the coil shot on us down in altalanta at nopi, it was not very old either, , , , they are shitty .

 

mine jsut went recently, i have just over 130k, so its probaly just our cars

 

Well, I was an idiot and did a compression check without disconnecting the ignition, so that killed it real fast, along with the ignition control module.

Replaced it with an MSD!

 

i wish i knew it was the coil i would have did it myself or just made it external ala msd cap w/ coil. i wonder why honda made it internal anyhow? on alot of preludes and older honda the coil is external. must be a cost cutting thing.

funny cause i thought coils are supposed to be a cool spot,and the distributer gets hot! ah who knows? who cares!? i know the dealer sure got me good though,oh well you live n learn...
