Default Do Amps Need To Get Air?

I dunno how many of you have seen a crx. But behind the driver/pass seat there is a small flip up compartment that is the perfect six\ze for both my amps to sit inside with about 1 inch around the subs on all sides.

Now the lid closes and I dont think any air will be getting in there but Ive seen installs with amps sunken into the trunk floor and what not.

So Im just wonderring if its cool to put the amps under the lid and have them not overheat?

Pretty much any all amps need some air circulation fo them to stay cooled, even if it has a built in fan. most of the systems that have hidden or "sunken" amp wells have a few fans running to give some air flow.

With that said if your not running the amps hard or close to their max output it should be ok.

Good luck

I dont think them overheating is a huge problem unless youre pounding them for a long time. Maybe a decsent air hole or a computer fan

Well I went to radioshack and since my brothers friend works there he let me just take the some computer fans so I got 2.
Heres the specs on them:
DC Brushless Fan
75 mm (3")
0.75m cubed/min (27cfm)
2700 rpm
and there 12v so it works I guess.

Now I dont think I am going to use the setup I said I was. I think I am going to build some sort of box that has the amps sunken in and coverred with plexiglass . So I can just have one fan blowing air in one side and one fan on the other side of the box blowing the air out of the box? That will work and fix my problem right?

Now they have 2 wires coming off the fan. One RED and one BLUE. WTF are they for? and how would I wire them?

Dam I got some building ahead of me.

Also what would I run the fans to? Should I just tap into my h/u power so theyll be on when my h/u's on?

Thanks for helping out by the way

anyone else know? I thought the red would be power and blue a ground myself. Would be pretty basic wiring if it was.

Have some major designing to do this week.

i would assume it wouldn't matter how you would wire it, it is just a motor, if it is reversed it will probably run backwards, so check it out. the 12v turn on lead should work as its power source. I am looking for some people with experience to come in here and back me up, i am not sure.

You DO NOT want your amp remote powering the fans!!!

What you will want to do is use your headunit's amp remote wire to trigger a relay. Then use the output of the relay to power the fans and to act as an amp remote.

Just as a note - two fans pulling air out of the rack with an open hole on the other side will move more air then a push/pull system....

hmm Imm gonna try and find something that always has constant power and tp into that and make a switch for both fans, just because I love flicking switches lol.

Can you give me an example of something that always has power even when the car is off?

I was trying to find a site like that, I had one before but forgot to book mark it, good plan, push pull is the best idea for a fan set I think. good luck with you set up
