im a bit scared to keep the current door seat belts in this 89Si that i just picked up because ive seen the aftermath of it going into the back of someone's head in an accident. now: i have 88 crx seat belts of my old crx, and tried to hook em up. the problem is that the retractor can be mounted, but the topmost bolt for the seat belt cannot be bolted. the 89si chassis has a hole there, but it is too big, and in any case, its not even threaded. so my idea.....i was gonna cut open a square space behind this hole, and stick a nut behind there to lock the 88 crx bolt in place. my question, will this significantly ruin the integrity of the pillar therefore making it unsafe?? has anyone else put 88 seat belts in an 89si? lmk asap.

 

I would look for a set of 90-91 seat belts. I have a 89 CRX Si and a European 89 CRX with a ZC that I am hoping to convert to U.S. specs. The euro model has pillar mount seat belts and the 90-91 USDM has the same belt system. Just a thought. As far as weakening the pillar, I would get the hardware from a wrecked 90-91 and have a bodyshop hook it up. Good luck!

 

im sure u can add a nut on there just like factory has it. just try to mimic what the 88's look like.
