Default Question: What does the car term 2+2 mean?

Can someone tell me what those old Ferraris and Lamborghinis mean when they use the term 2+2?

"2" front bucket seats + "2" rear seats. (sorta, LOL)
it sorta means the car's not strictly a 2 seater only, but then again it aint no "4" seater, either. It's something in between. A la a "2 + 2", usually they have a "fasback" body, as well. The JDM CRX with the rear seat could be considered a "2 + 1". hahaha.
