lately the last couple of days my car has taken a litle longer to start. it would take a few seconds to start and would go......."reer reer reer(slowly)".......then start.

today i drove it just fine.(noticed it was taking longer to start). then drove it around picked up a friend and ran errands. well. when we left the parking lot....the car went "reer reer reer........click(very rapidly)"....and would not start.

after we jump started it, i drove hom. when i pulled in my driveway i noticed that when i rolled my window up. my tach stopped working and dropped to zero. when i let go of the window switch, it went on again. rolled the window up again. and the cd player shut off.

i shut the car off let it cool down and went to work and noticed my alternator ground was a little loose. so i grounded it again,and also made sure the plug was in(came out once before). i noticed on the plug and the recepticle there was a lot of corrosion on them but could barely clean a little of it off. i plugged it back in and tried starting the car, and again. "reer reer reer.......clicking". tried it again and it just sat and clicked".


i'm waiting for a friend to come over and help me. but what all do you guys think it could be? alternator, starter? what?

please help me.

Check the voltage on the battery first... where's my

 

Yeah most likely the battery.Check the terminals to see if they are loose.

 

my car had a problem with things just shutting off and it was the termials, corrosion had built up. I took some sand paper and hit the inside of the terminals and the battery posts and its been fine ever since. It sound like you need a new battery though with the clicking and the electrical problems with the tach and cd player.......

 

took the battery out, it has some corrosoion on both posts. right now i'm trickle charging it and it's charging fairly high which means it was fairly low. hopefully that is the case.
