Expo 4: The Final Chapter (Track Selection is Complete)
Trey is a bit busy and wont be home until later so I'm posting this.
We've been in contact with the 3 final tracks and for a number of reasons we have selected Summit Point - Shenandoah Circuit as the location of the Integra Type-R Exposition 2004.
As I said, we made this decision for a number of reasons and we'll be happy to answer any questions you guys have regarding this decision. I myself am still at work and leaving in a few so don't expect an immediate response.
Therefore, the date is now final as well. June 5th and 6th, 2004 (saturday and sunday). We will post more info regarding registration, refunds for those who could make AZ but can't (or don't want to) make Summit Point, et cetera.
If you are wondering why there was no final vote then read on. All 3 of the final tracks were very close in votes so we decided it would be best to select a track from those three that would most benefit the Expo and the participants. The only downside to SP will be the facilities as VIR and Mid-Ohio most definately have better facilities at this time. We also don't have enough time for another vote. We also didn't want it swayed by track popularity (how well the name is known).
Most important: We made the decision because we believe it is the best choice.

Awesome!
The more and more I thought about it after reading all the concerns (safety, driver, etc, n00bs), this seems like a good choice. Nicely centralized for the east coast and not too far from the midwest.
This sucks for the west coasters who had committed to going.
I hope some can still come out, it's a shame it had to end up this way.
Chris - going to pay now and start making plans to spend a few days before/after out there... and plan to light RJ's new superbird on fyre.
Big
to Trey and ROR-Dave. Thanks again f00ls.

What if the track's not completed in time?
No doubt that you guys kick much ***, but I was nervous about this when this circuit was posted as a choice.

I just wish a 2x ITR owner like myself who sold her R not even a month ago could register

Hmmm ... I'm sure something could be arranged for the former owner of 97 #151.
But I'm not going to be the one in the beginner group!

Might be better to stay nearer the track, driver's meetings ... early sessions and all.
I'm sure we can both share the car, just call or IM me for the VIN when you're ready to register.
At least I won't have to ask to borrow the EZ-UP!
LOL! Speaking of VINs, I'm registered in my wrecked car from Ohio! LOL!

I think this is better for you Rob...it's better to drive drunk for 1k mile than 7k.

awesome! Im looking forward to sparking up that banked turn
I was kinda getting my hopes up for Mid Ohio, just because it seems like its a world class sort of track and facility. But SP will be great as well Im sure.
Sorry for all the WC peepz that had their plans ruined. Hopefully they can join us on the east side.
Registration open yet? Ryan, who plans to pay as soon as he finds out he can get that Friday and Monday off

Thanks, guys, for all your hard work on this.
I know it wasn't an easy choice. But when you think about it, that's because all of the top three choices were excellent places, with fun tracks and good dates.
This choice will be a real boon for people up and down the East Coast (say, from New York down to Richmond), who won't need to take time off from work to come to the Expo. So it should be that much easier to get enough attendees to break even.
I think it's also exciting to drive a track that no one has driven before!
See you all at the Expo!

I'll wait to see which place is the Expo HQ.
Though, when going to Summit Point I usually stayed at the Town House Motor Lodge in Charlestown.
I suspect those places listed above are West of the track ...

Just like Beavrun.
Do I see a pattern developing here?

Heh.... all you guys still fixating on Vegas.... If you really want to gamble after the Expo, just take a quick trip to Atlantic City.... of course that means parking in NJ and half the cars never returning
