Default RSX Limited Slip?

Honestly, I'm not an RSX owner yet, but I plan to be this summer (gotta gradumacate 'n' get me a job first). Anyway, one thing still irks me about them - no LSD! The MacPherson struts I can live with, the short rack I can deal with, the lack of HID's I can deal with... But I don't understand why Honda neglected to put in an LSD. The SE-R has one. The Mazdaspeed Protege has one. I did some research and found that Mugen, Cusco, and Quaife offer aftermarket replacements (Phantom Grip does not count in my book). Surprisingly, the Quaife (helical torque-sensing) is cheaper ($995) than the Cusco (clutch pack - $1120) or Mugen (clutch pack - $1380). Personally, based on what I've read and understand of mechanical design, the Quaife seems to be the superior product.

Basically, the point of this post is to see if anyone out there has similar complaints about the RSX, and whether anyone has had experience with any aftermarket LSD's. This component seems to me a critical element in power delivery and handling, but is this all just theoretical BS? Let me know what you think.

Do you have an LSD? What do you mean by this?

And as far as the Mazdaspeed - I think it's definitely the best handling FWD car I've ever driven, and a few have told me it'd spank even an ITR. When I test drove one, I damn near fell in love. Plus the fact that it comes with a turbo makes it way more tunable than an RSX. But once I started researching it, I found that Mazda's build quality is about as good as what I left in the toilet this morning. The fuel and timing maps are crap from the factory, and there's nothing along the lines of a Hondata/Zdyne available for them. The suspension, while far superior (in design) to an RSX, utilizes cheap rubber and poor mount point locations. The cheap turbo bypass valve configuration causes compressor surge. Plus, what really made me wonder about the car is that it's only being produced for one year, then the entire Protege line is yanked. And there were only something like 2500 of them produced, but despite this, they STILL can't sell them for $3k under sticker! Go figure... So, I'm not buying into something like that.

I apologize for turning this into a Mazdaspeed rant, but I had to get that off my chest.

Damn good question, Every magazine that has rung out the RSX-Aspec has stated it is the best handling front driver thay have gotten. But its still missing the limited slip. Funny the mindset...It might be to much for american drivers...But damn have you seen the number of Overseas drivers who buy an ITR DC5 and remove the factory LSD in favor of another unit.

I have a JDM LSD that hopefully will be installed in the up coming warmer months...I mostly wanted it b/c its hard to launch this car on the street and not smoke one tire...Sometimes vtec will break one tire loose in the rain.

You do know the the Protege uses struts both front and back? How is that "far superior" than the RSX with strut and multilink?
