195/50/15 nitt 450's? Few questions.
Well These guys just arrived to my door the other day, and I have a few questions about them. I'm waiting for my wheels to arrive (15x7 slips, blah of course).
Ok question time:
Before these babies came in, I have been riding on 165/70/13's and I'm pretty sure I have not been getting the true quality out of my Koni/GC combo. I think this because the tires are incredibly shitty and incredibly worn out. They are also very "soft" and they are very tall and not wide at all (note the 165/70/13.
Now with my new setup I opted to go with the 195/50/15 thinking that since it will be a shorter, more firm of a tire that My ride will be stiffer and ultimaly get the true performance out of my suspension set up. What do you guys think, is 195/50/15 a good tire size choice?
I have not driven my car with my Koni/GC combo yet on "nice" tires and wheels. It has been on shitty steelies and Crappy "No-name-brand" tires since I have installed these shocks and springs.
So over all what do you think the difference will be between the two tire choices, the one's that i just got and the ones that i have been driving on? Also is the tire size that i choose a good choice? What are the other options in tire size and what are the differences?
Thanks a lot!
Joey

I love the 450's. It used to be all I would buy, until I turned into a cheap bastid.
IMO great Dry traction and cornering stability. Wet traction slacks just a bit but for a performance tire you cant expect too much more. Just be careful in the snow. Also, they don't seem to get that "flat spot" feel after sitting for a while like some tires do.
Otherwise, good choice on size. If you had gone with a 205/50 you would have ended up with "BAD CAMBER" style wear along the inner traeads because of the wider contact patch.
Oh, and in case your wondering, they were on my CRX with Nuespeed Race springs & Tokico Blues.

OMG nitto 450's are the worst tires i have ever had..i bought those thinking that they were descent tires (they were mounted on slips)....but come to find they suck monkey *****...
i could squeal the tires very easily in the turns even if i wasn't turning too fast....
now if you want some sexy tires get some azenis....those things bite like a mother....some people say wet traction sucks, it does, but only when you hit small puddles if the ground is just moist or what not they grab pretty well. ..
i know there are other choices and if you search you can find a few threads about tires... but i recommend azenis and also keep in mind they only last like 10-20k depending on how you use em...

nitto nt450's are not drag or trac tires....they are main ly tires.........just something to get you around and offer a great compremise between performance and neccesity....thats my 2 cents...
I been riding on the for the last year or so...I love them....gone to the drag strip a few times and I drive like amofo around corners....and I still have a lot a good thread on them.... I've put at least a good 12k on them and I know I can put 8k more on them...I have 205/50/15 and I love them, they are mounted on my SI wheels......and to the one that said 205 gives ya a camber wear?? BS, get your car aligned and this will not happen...
Azenis do last like 10k-12k max daily driving!! but if you really drive on them at a track event or drag on them alot 8k max..........

Learn to read. I did not say that 205's give you camber wear. What I said was that a 205/50 on a 6.5 or a 7" rim is a little too wide and when the tires do start to wear it will most likely appear that they are wearing as if the car had a camber problem.

Do you just like to argue or something. Jeez
Hopefully you arent getting excessive wear on the OUTSIDE of your tires. The wider contact patch of a 205 WILL cause wear on the INSIDE of the tire when you are talking about a lowered car. It may not be as noticeable as you are thinking it would be, but it does exist. Obviously when you lower a car it is very difficult to get the car back to 0 camber, so the wider the tire the more noticeable the wear.
Call BS all you want. Then come to my shop and I'll show you a few things.
1. The 3 or 4 sets of 195/50's
2. 2 sets of 205/50's
3. The car that all these tire came off of on the Allignment rack.

I'm dumped and my tires wear evenly.....I have camber kits and all that mess, you know the stuff that goes along with lowering a car.......I've had no problems....
and camber really doesn't eat your tires, toe does that more than camber....
I have the following settings cuz I choose to have them, 0 all the way around wasn't fun for corners...
-1.5 degree front
-1 degree rear
0 toe rear
1/32th toe out front

I used my nittos 195/50/15's for 1 1/2 years and they still looked brand new. Thread lasts forever but like everyone is saying, the don't grip. Your ride will be much firmer with that rim tire combo as well. goodluck.
I've had the Nitto 450's on my 15" Rota Slipstreams for about a year now. They are good tires because they last long. As for as cornering and stability they are decent but don't expect too much from them. I've last traction couple of times on take offs during little rain. But they do last a while though, LOL. Hope I helped you.
Hate them or love them, bottom line is you're going to love them compared to what you've been running this whole time. Guaranteed.
Your car will feel stiffer and steering will be alot more responsive.

I didnt have a problem with my nitto's untill I did
my break upgrade. Now, I can lock them up very
easily, other than that, they wernt horible for the
price, and they have lasted well over a year.
