The MSF experience?
I had my first class tonight, and all I can say is I'm really dissapointed. I came in 3 minutes late because my dad had to take me to sign the release form and he couldn't get home from work until 5 (the class started at 6) and we got in major traffic.
He made the class take a vote as to whether or not I could stay (I wouldn't get a refund by the way). After that, he made it a point to tell the whole class how I was his first 16 year old he has taught, and that it would be an "experience [/end sarcasm]".
After that he proceeded to ask me why I am in his class if I just got my learners permit, and that I would have 6 months before I could even get a license, I told him 90 days, he promptly corrected me and went on with the class.
Colorado motorcycle drivers handbook says 90 days straight from their website, and why else would I take MSF before being able to have a license, so I can learn to ride my ******* motorcycle.
If the rest of the class goes like this I'm going to be pissed. I just hope on the range I won't have to speak to him much.

I was late to my first class because of traffic, too. I called up the person who I set up my first appointment with, and he rescheduled another class for me, no extra charge, no loss of payment. Just suck it up and try to learn as much as you can from the class. You're going to meet a lot of ******** in the world (seems like a lot of us like to post here...hahaha! just kidding), so take that as a learning experience, too. If you find that his attitude towards you is detrimental to your learning, then talk to the instructional assistant(s). I found mine to be more personable and understanding of what I was going through than the instructor.
Good luck!
Good luck!
that sucks man. find out his name, address, and give him a taste of the old trusty Easton baseball bat.
haha, but seriously this might be a good thing, because now you're going to try your hardest to NOT have him nagging you, in turn making you a better rider.

My instructor was mad cool. Let us RIP on the Buell Blasts.
In your case just listen, learn, pass the class, and and keep proving his uneducated *** wrong, youll be okay.

Meh it's over with, I did fairly well (I did really well except for the test).
The final part of the test I missed where I was supposed to enter totally, so I got knocked off 15 points (max) and you can miss 20...
I also got 1 point taken off for stopping at 14 feet (average is 13)
They changed the position of the turn, it was elsewhere in the beginning that's why I missed it.

1) How much does this class cost?
2) How long does it last? Number of sessions?
3) Does it lower my insurance?
4) They have bikes you ride and learn on there?
5) Do you really learn?
6) What does your CB200T idle at once warmed up?
I'm tweaking the carbs and knowing this will help a lot.
Later!

It depends on your area; here in the Seattle area it was about $100. Some places it's quite a bit less, especially if you are under a certain age (21 I think).

One classroom session in the evening on Thursday, then all day (range plus classroom) Saturday and Sunday (range only).

Yes, at least here it does. It also gives you an M-endorsement on your driver's license without having to take a test at the DOL.

Yes, in my class mostly Honda Nighthawk and Rebel 250s.

Absolutely. It's a low-speed environment but you have to walk before you can run. All of the skills you learn at MSF apply at higher speeds. I highly recommend it.

My Instructor was really nice and helpful, a lot of people w/ "power" act like ********. Its just like a HS teacher or something they think they own you sometimes. Anyways heres me on the range!

I was looking at the MSF website, and it says it's 150 now
i'm calling tomorrow and seeing if it's still 75 like it was a couple of months ago.. i'm in cali by the way. Nice to hear that you passed

When I was on the range a woman dropped the bike the first day within the first 5 minutes she decided a motorcycle wasnt for her. And the last day a guy was going way tooo fast we were in the process of "quick swerve" and then a "quick stop" and he locked up the front break in the swerve. He was on his way up and got a little help, he highsided right into the pavement and he and the bike were sliding toward the instructor. The instructor had to jump over the bike. It was funny, he only suffered minor scrapes and bruises. That was a great experience to learn from! Everyone on the range learned from that. He had all of his gear on so he got right up and then we took the test and he passed.
Our instructors were very down to earth, they were a husband and wife team. Even the assistants were cool, telling us how they really ride. Sorry that you got some jerk, but like posted, 90% of this world sucks.
people see a 16 yr old kid and they assume you're like the rest. Take it in stride and show them otherwise. 99% of all people are ********, except that's only 50% of the time so its tricky.
Oh, if anyone is going to take the class in VA, it's $90 through NOVA, and $50 through Va Western Comm. College.
Class breakdown at Va Western is:
Friday 6pm-9pm class
Saturday, either 8am-12pm or 1pm-5pm (you choose which group you are in) on the course, no class time
Sunday, same times as Saturday, but you show up an hour early to take the written test, then its off to the course for more practice and the riding test.
