H22A Shifter Cables (new pics)

We just ran them through tonight on our current project/race car and found a new/cleaner spot to put them through. Rather than going underneath the center console, it was more feasible to go through that small spot so A) there's less kinks and bends in the linkage and B) much less of a chance to get exhaust fumes coming into the cab with the hole up there. Basically it comes just under where the firewall begins, feeds up over the rear crossmember, next to the rear bracket. Very easy to feed, kind of pain to be under the dash cutting that hole but I think it's worth it more than the "usual" cut below the console. BTW, we bent the metal back so it's smooth there so the cables won't chafe. Here's a tip.... it'll be a little bit easier to run the cables through BEFORE you drop the motor in, if you don't want to reach down under the intake manifold for the cables to pull them up (while somebody feeds them through the hole from inside).

Just a quick pic of the 90% finished project. Just need to do a couple of last minute things, but the motor looks stock and from the factory in that pic (except for the bling HCP driver side mount), not that everyone has seen something like that before
Looks great man. Im kinda curious how the shifting feels. Once you get it running, please post if there is any difference in the shifting feel. Better? Worse? No change?

Shifting feels normal... shouldn't be any different. With the cables being ran through that location puts less stress/kinks/bends in the linkage so there's less of a chance of chafing or binding probems with the shifter cables.

that's the only way I will run cables in an eg, I used to run them under the car and they would snap and kink, going through the firewall is much better and easier with a holesaw as well
