Default Prelude Type SH w/ JG head..

if anyone remembers my post awhile back about the prelude with jspec H2* that i was gonna race in my turbo LS.. Well I was at a shop yesterday where this kids car was, i asked about it and it has a fully built JG head.. revs to like 9k possibly..

How fast would this car be? Do u think with this head and all the bolt ons it could pull a 230hp turbo LS?

Well if you're really worried about it then wait a couple months a race him. By then his bottom end will have grenaded from reving to 9K on a motor that was not designed to rev that high, even with head work. I've heard some good and some bad things about JG but I don't think they're stupid enough to tell him that he can rev to 9k (type s motor has about the same redline and fuel cut at the US one).

Plus in order to be running that kind of rev limiter he'd have to have a stand alone engine management system to eliminate the rev limiter (since the 99 is an OBDII car and no one can reprogram it yet). Ask him what he's running. If he says stock then you know he's full of crap. On top of that unless he really did swap his engine out for a JDM one (and only the SiR S-Spec Version) then he can't run an aftermarket ECU since they can't control the ATTS unit. Unless of course he just has the ATTS unit disabled, which would make it pointless to buy a Type S engine. The SiR S-Spec has an LSD and the same hp as the Type S.

Plus even with a fully built head and all the bolt on's he's probably not making more that 210 at the wheels.

Gabe is correct. He's not getting near 9k safely even with a standalone. (Which he probably doesn't have.) Unless he did an OBD1 conversion, and had that one rechipped. 9K is risky even on a built bottom end... it'd need to be balanced and blueprinted. Anyway, go race him. He's going to have more torque than you, but you should be able to overcome that.
