Default Too much for chrome?

There is a local bike shop that will chrome the lip of my rims and paint the spokes red for me which i what i want and i don't know much about what would be a good price or not. THey want 250 per wheel so 500 total and that includes them taking off the rim/tire.

damn that seems expensive. Dunno if that is how much they usually cost tho. Why dont you just polish the lips yourself and paint the spokes yourself also?

Yeah i heard that under the stock painted rims it is chrome but i didn't want to **** with it in case it was not true. But Where can i get this **** and how long would it take? And would it look as good as actually chroming the wheel itself?
