I am highly contesting wheather or not to do an engine swap and drop the h22 or to keep my vtec 5spd and slap a turbocharger on it. Which would be better?
Good question! My engine had 200,000 miles on it therefore I decided to go with the swap. Which was a big mistake... I had nothing but problems b/c I got a bad engine. Don't let this get you down though. make sure you buy from a reputable dealer and everything will be fine.
I suggested that a friend go to Hmotorsonline.com.... He got a great enginge and opted to spen another $300 for the LSD. He has had the engine for 5-6 months now with NO problems. I highly suggest those guys or I have heard that Japan Direct is a very good dealer. Don't go with any no name places whatever you do b/c if you have problems they will not help you at all.
T answer your question... if your engine has over a hundred thousand miles on it I'd go with the swap but do your research on the place you get it from.

thats what id say too... i take it since this is in the accord forum that you have an accord... but the f series takes boost pretty well so if you wanted to go that route, it wouldnt be such a bad idea... my friend just bought a h22 from hmotorsonline.com good guys to work with

Like everyone else i saying, if you are definitely set on an engine swap - make sure you do your homework. I also got my JDM H22a w/ lsd from Hmotorsonline.com (back then they were still called Hondamotorsonline.com). Since I swapped the engine, I have put close to 30K miles on it with no problems what so ever.
Some things to think about if actually going to swap engines. You WILL want to replace alot of items such as Belts (timing, a/c, and power steering), Water pump, clutch, pcv valve, cap & rotor, spark plugs and wires, radiator hoses (depending on how old they are)
If you ask my opinion - definitely get the H22 as there are more parts available at lesser prices than if you were to build up the F22 but don't get me wrong, you need to have a plan in place as to what you ultimately want to do with this car and set a budget to stick with. Also, do you see yourself getting rid of this car in 3 yrs? 5 yrs? or really sticking with it through thick and thin. Boosted cars can be a hassle if not tuned correctly and not as reliable as a N/A setup.
Again, just my 2 cents

i'd say go boosted...i mean, if worse comes to worse, you blow the motor, and you have to fork out $250 for a newer f22, that'll be your engine swap down the road...i have an h22a swap and am honestly not that impressed...

for the money it takes to do a swap you can build a f22b1 and put together your own custom turbo kit.
just a thought..what are your HP goals?

man this issue has been discussed a million times over. it all comes down to what your goals are for the car and what your budget is. if money is no object then swap a built h22 and turbo that bad boy! but that is usually not the case. most people will agree that a boosted f22 is alot faster than a stock h22 but then maintenance and durability become an issue. As for me, i opted to boost the f22 because i was able to do so for about $1000. if the engine blows its no big deal because the engine will need a rebuild sometime in its life and when that comes it'll all be upgraded bullet proof parts that can handle more boost. think about it.

Low compression on the F.
I wouldn't swap until around 150k-200k on the F motor. I had a friend with a 90 Accord that had 350k on it. Ran like a champ too.

Be different and boost the f22.. I am swapping in h22 because I have an f22b2 series and it knocks like crazy.. and it has plenty-o-miles.
P.S - you might see me running around town.. Check out my Signature @ bottom.

I have 113K and im boosted on my F22B2 and at 5 psi untuned the thing pulls like a raped ape. I am noe running 8 psi and getting tuned fdairly quickly, thing runs like a factory turboed car.
As for the swap im not a fan of the H22 but more for the F22B or the H23 cause of the lower price tag. My roomate just bought his B16 from passwordJDM and they sent him a motor with a bad water pump, auto ECU, and spark plugs that have been throw WW3. Just make sure to be extremely annoying when you call a place about a motor.

but for that lower price you are giving up hp. if you are going boost i guess i could see getting the cheaper motor even though you are still down on power, but for all motor spend the money for the extra power.

If you have 110k on your engine.. crack open the head (check for any impurities) .. crack open the oil pan (check crank for any impurities). Give her a compression test and if everything is ok.. and the cylinders are pushing in good balance.. Than go for the boost. 110k on a honda is breaking it in.. You might have to re-inforce the head a little bit.. but the block can handle a good amount of boost (8-14psi give or take). And turbo is soooo much more fun.
