Default Want my Cylinder head built. Portflow or JG or DPR???

Hey guys, I am looking to get my head worked on this winter while my car sleeps. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge or experience with Portflow or DPR? I've heard that some people has had problems with JG heads. Is there any truth to this? I am going more towards Portflow cause I heard they do good work. What about DPR compared to Portflow? I wanna do like a Port and Polish with performance Cams, titinium retainers, valve springs, stainless steal valves. How much should I look into spending to do all this? If anyone has any experience with these companies, any info and recommendation on what to do to gain the most power for the best price would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I haven't had any problems out of my JG Pro series head. In fact, if anything, that was the best thing they DID to the motor. It's turned out BEAUTIFUL.

Is Portflow better than JG or are they about the same in quality and performance gain wise? How much is it to get my head work from Portflow and how long does it take to get the job done. I am doing it over the winter when my car is sleeping. Also, the majority seems to say Portflow, has anyone delt with them or had work done by them? How are their service and what cars have they worked on that in the Pro Import Dragging scene? Thanks for your info and replies guys. Much appreciated!!!

Does portflow do anything to the quench area? Or they just port and polish?

Default Portflow..

can/will do whatever you ask them to. As far as pricing, I dont work there so I wouldn't know what costs how much, for that you should check their website:
www.portflow.com
You could also call AEBS at 858 697 3200, they are here in San Diego, and have done excellent work in the past, I dont have any recent experience w/ them so I wouldn't know, but they are held in high regard by a lot of professionals!
Good luck...

My brother-in-Law got his headwork done at Portflow and he loves it! I checked it out before he installed it. Very nice work! I have heard some goods things about AEBS, but I don't personaly know anyone who has used them. I talked to Dan out at DPR and I was not impressed, plus he wanted a grip to do a full port, polish, and matched i/e. I have always heard JG products were good, I have one of their T/B's on my lude, but JG Luder is the only guy I know with work done by them. I am sure whoever you choose will be good, but I would stay away from DPR and Gude. Just my .02 though.

I'm a big fan of DPR and yes he does exist. He does all the porting himself and some of the guys who work at portflow used to work for Dan. With just his stage 6 head and bolt on's you'll be @ 200 wheel hp and capable of hitting high 13's. just call arround and see how much power portflow can give u for the money then check with DPR.

200whp and hitting 13's? Just head work? Hrm, if that was the case, I'd be in the 12's by now. lol

OK, contact the member "Allmotor" over on http://www.hondaprelude.com and see what he has to say about Dan Paramore.... he is 100% AN ANTI DPR fan.

Let me see if I can find my pics of my headwork....

I have personal experience dealing with Dan. As they said he does exist still, if you would like his number I can give it to you. I have his stage V on my Si and along with the web cams I put (his suggestion) I can say I am thoroughly satisfied. He was extremely helpful and even called me six months after the job to check and see how the car was running. He even took my injectors and throttle body to RC for me free of charge. He always shot straight with me and I can only give a good recomendation. BTW he is a little more expensive, but it was worth it.

Default want portflow? i got pictures...

of my head. Tom is the man! i overnighted my cylinder head to him and he cranked it out in one day! i paid $750 for the labor alone, not counting new valve seals, gaskets, springs, retainers, etc...

email me if you want to see pictures before i put the head back on!

my first dyno session is supposed to be Oct. 13th and 14th. I have approx 1 week to get my rings up to par.

I'm afraid my dyno tuning session that was supposed to be a showoff of power will in fact, be an embarrasment due to all my lost compression.

I'm not happy about this.
