If you've done the PS removal, then you know one thing still remains that is holding back the DC2 steering, and that is the steering ratio. It takes a significant movement of the steering wheel to get the car to move...
enter a faster ratio steering rack. there have been past threads, but nothing has materialized.
who else wants one?

A faster ratio rack (less turns lock to lock) will require a higher amount of effort if there is no power assist. If you've ever noticed, the ratio on manual Civic racks is slower to help make it somewhat easier to steer during low-speed driving.

I'd say there is a HUGE market for an aftermarket close-ratio race rack for DC tegs and EF, EG, and EK civics.
If someone were to do R&D, they'd most certainly bank with the right marketing.
I would be the first on the buy list for an EK rack.
Someone make it happen!

What'd be even better would be a close-ratio rack with electric assist, like the Civic Hybrid, Insight, and NSX. Not only would you get 5% better fuel economy and a cleaner engine compartment, you'd free up some horsepower which would be attractive for racers.

fwiw, i wouldn't be wanting a power rack...i'd want a manual rack...
but an electronic assist might be neat...

I guess this begs the question: how hard is it to rip open a steering rack and pop in some different gears?
I know the steering assembly consists of a lot of parts, but it can be serviced...

The 98-01 models have a slightly closer ratio than the 94-97 models. However, it's probably not nearly as close as what people on here are hoping for, and probably barely enough to even notice.

I had a close ratio rack put on my old 5.0
it had a worse turn ratio than a school bus. I went from a 20:1 to a 15:1 setup. it was really nice in tight spots, no more having to go in reverse in a u-turn on a narrow road. but they don't put them in high performance cars for a reason. the faster you go, the quicker the response. You have to be a lot more careful on the highway with it. if something pops out on the road and you gotta makea hard turn, you could easily over do it and lose control.
not saying that anyone here would do that, all expert drivers!

Hahaha ofcourse we are. Ignorance is bliss!
I've done a bit more work on my car in terms of firming up the chasis to make everything more responsive (bushings, etc.). Suffice to say I like what I see (more later)
