Default ITR OWNERS READ THIS.......

Ok this might sound like an editorial, but im sure you will all agree.

WEll all i have to say is this.
I love my car. For a while i was thinking about selling it. all the damn ricers just start to get on your nerves. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM? anyway. I realize this. My car is amazing. Not to many 4cyl. cars can keep with the so called "muscle cars" of american origin. especially @ 20mpg. and the ITR vtec is heart stopping. there is no other sound that could make me smile as the VTEC could. I havent been driving my car, and just the other day, i decided to take her for a little spin. It had been a good 3 weeks before she had a good ride. ( so long, the battery was dead) I dont think i have ever smiled that much. the roar, ok, maybe whine, of the 16v DOHC VTEC is just exhilarating.

Ok enough.
You get my point.
SO ALL YOU ITR OWNERS, JUST MAKE SURE YOU THINK TWICE ABOUT SELLING YOUR ITR FOR SOME OTHER BRANDED CAR.

lets hear what you have to say?

HONDA---- YOU SURE GET MY APPLAUSE

The Technology of Tomorrow, Brought to you today, courtesy of Honda Motor Corp.

Later everyone.

Everyone who has an R has this problem. I have considered selling it too, but then I go for a drive and remember why I bought it.

Yeah, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I just got a ride in Aleph's R (my "first time" in an R ) this Sunday after going through over a month of withdrawl from my GS-R. Even being a passenger in that thing is incredible; there are so many subtle little things that take it to the next level and beyond. Just looking at the outside it's a totally different car than mine (I'm sure the Volks helped in that area too ). Aleph and I both agreed that given an unlimited budget the R would still be a "must have" in the garage. / =

I'm still considering selling mine. It's not that I don't like the car. I just need something I can park anywhere and not worry so much about. I don't know how long my daily driver is going to hold out. I really want an NSX. The biggest problem though, is that I don't have anytime to drive it. I've driven the R twice in the past two months. It's got less than 8k miles after 16 months. I'm just too busy and have too many other things I'd rather do than drive that car. And yes, after a month, my battery died too.

Every time I write the check to make a car payment, I feel like I'm getting away with something.

I park it - I walk away. Move out of the ghetto, yakko. j/k.

I don't think i'll ever sell mine.. I'll keep mine forever.. until the engine dies... but then i'll just buy another engine (if there's one available then)

If I need another car, the R will stay and I"ll just buy another one..

Heh, glad you liked it Bite, i had to laugh when it got a little tail out entering the Go-Kart parking lot, didn't see that gravel Following an F355 didn't hurt the sound factor either.

I don't ever plan on selling mine. I doubt it'll be that streetable in 10 years, but it's just too much fun and too (relatively) economical to even think about. It's meant to be driven, I don't have any qualms about driving it in the winter, long distances etc...I'll drive it till i can't drive it no more, and if it ever disentigrates, i may well get another one

Don't end up being that guy who talks about the cool car he had when he was younger and boy oh boy he wishes he never sold it.

For me, it's not the ricers but the constant posts about various Rs getting stolen in the Tri-State (NY, NJ, CT) area. As much as I enjoy the car, I sort of miss out on the little things I used to be able to do like ...

Going to the movies. Going over to a friends place. Going to buy damn milk at the supermarket.

Driving around and not giving a **** isn't really the answer either since I'm sure the insurance company will get their money back and more if I choose to get another "performance" car. Getting a second car/daily driver is out of the question since I don't have the garage space for it.

I'm honestly stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. I love the car but hate the headaches that follow the car. So I'm actually going to look into different options. Since my car is leased, it complicates matters a bit but if I can get out of the lease via trade in and take minimal/no penalities ... that GMAC financing rate sounds real nice. If not, I guess I'll just stick with it and hope that the R stealing phase dies out.

Good post, though.

Aaah.. Agree with Aleph...
Just drive it...
I had a thought of selling it, since I can't take my R to the limit Both on the road (too afraid of spending $$ on Ticket and Insurance) and on the track ($$ is gone for tuition)..
but after awhile.. I think it is a low profile car also...(in my area)...
some people who knows what it is, give a ... and who don't know, just think that I am a crazy person with a loud Yellow Integra.
Fair enough I think..

I was looking for a beater...
but then, why bother... better save the $$ for the RSX-R.
wouldn't it be cool to have both ITR and RSX-R?

Amen brother, I've had my R for 3.5 years and have even more fun driving it now than I did before, it just keeps getting better (perhaps as I spend more on mods), for the price this car really can't be beat, and I have driven lots of more expensive cars (M3s, NSXs) and its just as much fun to drive. Bravo Honda, no wonder so many thieves want these cars, they are just incredible.

I was in a similar predictament. My car was stolen (got it back), I know of two others with stolen ITR's. We get followed, etc. etc. You begin to hate having this car...but then it happens...last week was the first cool day...and OH MAN the car felt so fast. Then I took it to an autocross and WOOOOHOOOOO !!! No way am I selling this car !

I bought a Miata as my movie/mall/everything else car, so hopefully I can keep my ITR.

Yea I've been looking the ITR's over for a while but I really liked my supercoupe... but some expensive engine repairs looming at 300.000k's made me move onto the Type R.. My only stupidity was buying a new one... Now that we have beat it up a bit we might just as well have bought a used one for less $$$

Still though.. I gotta say that over the years my friends who bought cool cars and kept them COMPLETELY stock have been the the big winners... resale value wise...
of course if you had a perfect RS SS or Hemi or GNX in your garage, you might never part with it as well... *sigh*.. yes I have let some good ones get away...

I really have an NSX. The biggest problem though, is that I don't have anytime to drive it. I've driven the NSX twice in the past four months.

And yes, after a month, my battery died too.
My NSX usually sits for five months each winter. I have a battery charger (the kind that monitors the voltage and recharges only when it drops below a certain point). It's the 1.5 Amp Fully Automatic Onboard Maintainer/Charger, Item Number SE-1-12S, manufactured by Schumacher Electric Corporation. You can order it direct from their website for $32.99.

P.S. When I was driving my R home from work today, I was just thinking how much I really enjoy driving it, especially when there isn't a lot of traffic, and I can zip around on local streets. It's tremendous fun, but more so when it's not just out on the highway and not sitting in traffic.

Well, i just recently purchased a 2001 S2000 and it's a great car. But, to be honest, its just not the same as the ITR. It's only been a month and i already miss my TypeR.

So, do not sell your ITR for anything, it's gotta be the most fun to drive car out there for a reasonable price, It seems like it has that type of following that will last a long time. Hopefully, the RSX-R will come to North America and it will be just as good.

Anybody looking to trade in their R for a S2000?

damn it! i've been going through the same debate . . . i hate this car, really.

our motto? "ITR: love to drive, hate to own."

it's the most frustrating damn car i've ever had. but if i sell it i'm going to kick myself . . .

No debating here at all. My R is for life. And I plan on buying a 2nd R in the near future.

The thing I love most about the ITR is that it fits like a glove. I don't really know how else to describe what I mean
